Adrenal Function: A Guide to Recover, Reset and Rebalance

Location: Concourse A

Speaker: John P Troup, PhD

Sponsored by:

Session Description: Increasing rates of reported stress are contributing to the progression of compromised health states and affecting up to 60% of Americans today. Changes in our health profiles can be attributed to a lack of system resiliency normally coordinated by the Adrenal System and the HPA axis. A balanced adrenal system is foundational for maintaining healthy responses to stress and feelings of anxiousness, along with supporting healthy energy, sleep and immune responses and even reproductive health. When these systems are not optimally balanced nor able to recover, compromised immune and inflammatory responses can occur –which, in turn, lead to poor health outcomes.*

In this session, we’ll review how and why resiliency of the Adrenal System axis is critical and how nutritional interventions can help Reset the neuroendocrine network, Recover adrenal function and Rebalance immune, endocrine and metabolic responses.

The Glycocalyx and Nitric Oxide: Revolutionizing Endothelial Health

Location: Gibson Suite

Speaker: Mark Houston, MD

Sponsored by:

Session Description: Endothelial health has a profound effect on overall health. As scientific knowledge has advanced, strategies for supporting endothelial health have improved. In particular, a deep understanding of the different pathways and mechanisms by which nitric oxide is produced, transformed, stored, and released has allowed new breakthroughs to emerge. In this presentation, Dr. Houston will describe this emerging science, as well as introduce strategies that synergistically support endothelial health. He will also describe a recent IRB-approved study in which he was the Principal Investigator, evaluating how a new product affected blood pressure and salivary nitric oxide levels. Dr. Mark Houston will provide a detailed introduction to this important innovation and its relationship to the endothelial glycocalyx. He’ll explain how it works, why it matters, and how you can use it to achieve better vascular outcomes. Learn more in the mobile app.

FRIDAY , FEBRUARY 24

The Gut-Brain Axis: Exploring and Restoring

Location: Clinton Suite

Speaker: Kiran Krishnan

Sponsored by:

Session Description: We are currently living in the “era of the microbiome”, and there is daily development in understanding of the complex and bidirectional relationship between our guts and our brains-evolving into the popular concept of the Gut-Brain Axis (GBA). The microbiome ecosystem can influence central nervous system physiology through production of anti-inflammatory compounds, maintenance of a strong intestinal barrier, production of neurotransmitters, regulation of stress response, and vagal nerve stimulation. While intricate, this system is delicate. Low gut diversity means less production of signaling molecules and neurotransmitters. The microbial ecosystem can help modulate stress response, but chronic stress can dampen microbial diversity. Thus, there is elaborate two-way cross talk between the gut and the brain and dysfunction in this messaging has strong potential for vicious cycles of ill health- including mental health-in today’s modern world. Fortunately, there are emerging therapeutic tools to “manipulate the microbiome” and improve the connectivity between these two fundamental organs. Learn about these mechanisms and promising new interventions in this talk!

Postbiotics + Mitochondria Renewal For Longevity

Location: Gibson Suite

Speakers: Mark Hyman, MD; Chris Rinsch, PhD

Sponsored by:

Session Description: As we age, we often feel like we lack energy. What if it was the other way around? What if it was a lack of energy that made us feel aged? That makes sense from a biochemical point of view. Low energy levels stop our muscles working as well as they could. And the progressive loss of muscle function is a well-established feature of ageing. So, logic suggests that if we can find more energy from somewhere, then we can keep our muscles working better for longer – and so prevent a fundamental feature of ageing, even as we rack up the years. Research into a postbiotic, Urolithin A, suggests a promising new approach. By triggering mitophagy, Urolithin A clears out damaged and dysfunctional mitochondria making way for more efficient energy generators. Urolithin A supplementation has been shown to elevate cellular energy and increase muscular strength and endurance. Learn how this novel postbiotic addresses a key hallmark of aging and creates new opportunities to support longevity. Learn more in the mobile app.
