Diversity Week 2014 Student Poster Contest Top 15

2014 Diversity Week Student Poster Contest Rules and Specifications Theme: “Remember and Reflect – The Civil Rights Act of 1964” The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law on July 2, 1964 by President Lyndon Johnson. The Act bans discrimination based on “color, race, religion, sex and national origin” in employment practices and public accommodations. The Act is one of the major legislative achievements of the African-American Civil Rights Movement, a social movement characterized by campaigns of civil resistance and nonviolent protest. Forms of protest included boycotts such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott (1955-1956), “sit-ins” such as the Greensboro sit-ins (1960), marches such as the Selma to Montgomery marches in Alabama (1965), and a wide range of other nonviolent activities. The UCF Office of Diversity Initiatives (ODI) invites you to be part of the activities commemorating 50 years since the signing of the Civil Rights Act by designing a poster for Diversity Week 2014. Submissions must be original creations that represent a combination of the events of the Civil Rights Movement and the signing of the Civil Rights Act. Submissions will be reviewed for originality by a panel comprised of UCF Faculty and Central Florida design experts. Decisions of the contest judges are final. To participate, please review the required specifications, and complete the attached form.
