BEACH UMBRELLAS & CHAIRS

Beach chairs and umbrellas are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be aware that our beach attendants cannot reserve chairs or umbrellas in advance and any beach chairs and umbrellas left unattended for more than two hours will be reassigned to other guests. If you need assistance, please visit our Activities Center.

BEACH & POOL SAFETY

There is no lifeguard on duty, therefore swimming is at your own risk. Please do not bring glass containers to the pool and beach areas. Proper pool and beach attire are required at all times. Play it safe and wear reef-safe sunscreen! Swimming is prohibited during chemical treatments and cleanings. We also ask that you respect our other guests by keeping noise to a minimum after 9 p.m. Please read and comply with all rules posted on pool signs.

*During certain times of the year, the island and our beach experiences large amounts of seaweed, which is unavoidable. We must follow strict beach cleaning regulations as our beach is a sacred nesting site for the endangered hawksbill turtles. Resort staff regularly clean the beach, but the sand cannot be disturbed during turtle nesting season.

BEACH TOWELS

Beach towels are available at the Activities Center or the Front Desk.

CAR RENTAL

Renting a car is highly recommended for getting out and exploring St. Croix. When renting a car, we ask that you drive with extreme care. On St. Croix, vehicles drive on the left-hand side of the road (not on the right-hand side like in the U.S.), and U.S. traffic signs are used. Cars have the steering wheel on the same side as in the U.S., even though driving is on the lefthand side of the road. Foreign and international driver’s licenses are valid.

For car rentals, visit Centerline Car Rentals at stxrentalcar.com/divi. Pick-up is available from one of three convenient locations or the company can deliver your rental car to the resort.

While we highly recommend a rental car, taxis are also available on the island. Unlike those on the mainland, they have no meters. All carry government-issued rate sheets with prices for destinations throughout the island, based on two passengers per trip. Rates increase after 5 p.m. Taxis do not accept credit cards, so you must pay the fare in cash.

The Henry E. Rohlsen Airport is a about a 40-minute drive from the resort. Please plan to leave the resort at least 4-5 hours prior to your scheduled flight time to get from Divi Carina Bay to Henry E. Rohlsen Airport when returning to the USA and flying home. Travelers must be at the airport at least 90+ minutes prior to their flight or they will not be able to enter the airport and board their plane. You must pass through Customs Control, as St. Croix is a Port of Entry into the US. Then you must also pass through TSA. Many airlines have similar time schedules and the lines for both of these can be rather long, so please allow enough time to get to your gate. In addition, some airlines close boarding 30 minutes prior to departure time and will not allow anyone to board after that time, so we recommend that you arrive at your departure gate early.

Please see our Concierge Desk or Front Desk for any questions regarding taxis or need assistance in arranging a pick-up or drop-off.

There is no bus service or other public transportation available from the resort.

CASH POLICY

Divi Carina Bay Beach Resort and Oceans at Divi Carina Bay are cashless resorts. We accept all major credit cards.

CASINO

Carina Bay Casino is conveniently located across the street from the resort. Join the Players’ Club and ask for a Beachcomber Card to start earning valuable points, privileges, and savings right away. Visit www.carinbabay.com for more information on promotions and entertainment. To enter the casino, guests must be 21 years of age or older and present a valid ID. Food and drinks at the casino are not included in the All-Inclusive plan, but your bill can be chared to your room.

Our resort’s official check-in time is 3:00 p.m., but we always try to have your room ready for you as soon as possible. Please understand that on our busiest days for arrivals and departures, your room may not be ready until the official check-in time.

CHECKOUT

Our resort’s official checkout time is 10:00 a.m. As a consideration to arriving guests, please plan to vacate your room at this time so we can have it fresh and clean for the next guest. A late checkout fee of $100 for 2 hours (up to 12:00 p.m.) will be charged to your account for late departures.

CHURCHES/PLACES OF WORSHIP

CLIMATE

St. Croix’s temperatures remain constant year-round, averaging about 80°F (27°C) each day, with water temperatures around 70°F (21°C) closer to the coast. Trade winds provide cooling breezes on the island, and there is occasional rainfall in the late summer and early fall.

Eveningwear can be casual or island elegant. It is not permitted to remove any part of your swimwear on the beach or around the pool. Due to conservative customs on the island, it is recommeneded to wear a coverup over your bathing suit in areas that are not directly poolside or on the beach, especially when off the resort in public places.

ELECTRICITY & ENERGY CONSERVATION

We utilize the same voltage as the U.S. - DC 110 volts, 60-cycle.

We are conscious of protecting our natural resources and have an energy conservation plan that includes the use of low-watt light bulbs. Please help us conserve electricity by turning off the lights when you leave your room or when they are not in use. We also ask that you keep the sliding door closed, which will help avoid condensation in your unit.

Please assist us with our conservation efforts by:

• Observing the pool and beach towel exchange notice and reusing bath towels by hanging them on the rack in your room.

• Conserving water in-room and in public areas and reporting any water leaks.

• Decreasing your waste by using recycle bins for glass, cans, and plastic.

• Keeping the beach clean of litter.

• Protecting the iguanas from harm by not feeding them.

In addition to our own environmental efforts, we support the local community and love to give back through our Divi Cares programs. Ask us how you can contribute to this cause today!

Additional safety guidelines and best practices:

• Secure your room before you leave and at night by locking all windows and doors using the locking devices provided.

• Lock your entrance door from the inside and the connecting door, if applicable.

• Always lock up your valuables (money, passports, jewelry, etc.) in the safe deposit box provided in your room. Resort policy requires that a guest must always be present in their room when requesting resort assistance with safe deposit boxes.

• When returning to the hotel in the evening, use main access roads and walkways.

• Do not display your resort wristbands in public or leave them in your vehicle, on restaurant tables, at swimming pools, or other places where they can be easily stolen. For your safety, wristbands do not display room numbers. There is a $200 replacement fee for lost wristbands.

• Do not draw attention to yourself by displaying large amounts of cash or valuables.

Fire Safety:

When you check into your room, please locate the nearest fire exit and fire extinguisher. Make sure to review the fire safety exit plan on the back of your main unit door. There is also an extinguisher on each floor. Count the number of doors between your room and the exits. This will assist you should the need for an emergency evacuation arise. Choose a specific spot to keep your keys so you can easily locate them in an emergency.

In case of a fire, please remain calm. If the fire is in your room, get out quickly. Close the door, sound the alarm, and notify the resort staff. If the fire is not in your room, leave if it is safe to do so. Be sure to take your room key with you in case the fire blocks your exit and you need to re-enter your room. To check the hallway for fire, touch the door with the back of your hand to test the temperature. If the door is cool, get low to the floor, brace your shoulder against the door and open it slowly. Be ready to close it quickly if there are flames on the other side. Crawl low in the smoke to the nearest exit or staircase; the freshest air is near the floor. Return to your room if the exit or staircase is aflame. If your room door is hot, do not open it. Instead, seal the door with wet towels or sheets. Turn off fans and air conditioning. Immediately call the Front Desk for help. Signal from your window. Jumping down from higher-level floors is dangerous and could result in injury or death. Follow the instructions given by the resort staff and/or local authorities such as the fire department, police, and ambulance staff. Do not re-enter your room unless authorities or resort staff have instructed you to do so.

Car Security:

Although our parking lot is well lit and regularly patrolled, we recommend that you lock all car doors and windows, and do not leave valuables or your room keys in your vehicle. We assume no liability for theft/or damage to your vehicle.
