How was your Key Club experience and what is Key Club to you?

Key Club is not just some ordinary volunteering club, but instead a place and opportunity to make some of the most cherished and loved memories of your high school career. Volunteering should not be a burdensome task but instead approached like an exciting opportunity to bond with friends or meet some of your peers. Everyone at Key Club, members and officers alike, are extremely friendly and sociable, so don’t be afraid to expose yourself to make some friends because I assure you it will be worth it. Volunteering at events in Key Club served not only as a place to help better my community, but to also make new friends and memories in the process.

On multiple occasions, I can recall that meeting and bonding with a stranger at a Key Club event eventually caused me to realize the various commonalities, similarities, and classes we had with each other. Afterwards, approaching this same person at school, in class, or at another Key Club event was so easy and so rewarding; I soon realized that without Key Club, I would not have the same friends and relationships I now currently have. Here, Key Club served as a bridge to reach out my hand and make new friends, something I do not in the slightest regret ever doing.

Also in the process of making new friends and servicing my community, I also made cherished memories that I will never forget throughout my high school career and onward into my adult life. Most, if not all, Key Club events offer incredible experiences that I both learn from but also relish in joy as I look back on them. In particular, I smile thinking back on the laughs, conversations, and joyful experiences I had during Key Club events. Specifically, volunteering at the animal shelter Friends For Life comes to mind, as the extremely cute animals and new friends I made were just the right ingredients to make memories that I still cherish now. At Friends For Life, I made new friends and got to know better old ones as I made dog chew toys and filled boxes with dog and cat food. Additionally, the pets, specifically the cats, made the experience all the more enjoyable; their carefree and touchy nature made me instantly fall in love with all of the cats and always brought me back craving for more, more than once making me take a break just to hang out with cats. These new memories and friends made my Key Club experience exponentially better.

In all of my time in Key Club, I do not regret any second of it. Key Club has not only offered me opportunities to help better my community, but also gave me new friends and memories that I will cherish my entire life. For normal people, they would only see Key Club at face value when it is actually something more than that In essence, Key Club is an experience that offers incredible opportunities for new friendships, relationships, and memories that you would not trade anything else in the world for
