VdS helps: €20,000 for sick & disabled children The employees of VdS have welcomed in the new year with a dona-tion campaign. Customers of Europe’s largest institute for corporate safety and security also supported the collection. Thanks to this commitment, VdS CEO Dr. Robert Reinermann was able to hand over a total of € 20,000 to representatives of four non-profit making organisations this Monday. The donations were presented for the sixth time in as many years to “Make a Wish”, “Us for Kids”, “Open School of Cologne” and the “Foundation for Children with Cancer”. Two Cologne mayors, Elfi Scho-Antwerpes (SPD) and Hans-Werner Bartsch (CDU), who participated in the hand-over, emphasised in the name of the cathedral city their ”many, many thanks for the commendable donors and the achievements of the voluntary organ-isations. It is extremely important, but by no means self-evident, es-pecially in economically more difficult times like this, that a company and, above all, its workforce are committed to the common good.” Marlene Merhar, a holder of ”The Order of Merit of the Federal Re-public of Germany“ from the Foundation for Children with Cancer, in whose family house in the grounds of the Cologne University Hos-pital the donation hand-over took place, was delighted: ”In addition to all the important medical activities we can also put some sunshine into the everyday lives of many of our kids thanks to the donation of Europe’s No.1 for safety and security – and thus push this terrible disease into the background for at least a while.”

International Labour Organisation (ILO) as a major component in its programme. It will consist of three sessions in which experts on employment, health and safety will discuss the following topics: • Occupational health & safety in the global supply chain • How companies and employers can collect and analyse occupational health and safety data in order to improve safety and personal protection at work • Violence and psycho-social risks in the workplace In addition to the trade fair and congress, other well established A+A programme elements will be presented in a range of forums, theme parks and special shows. The trend forum Safety & Security, the theme park, Occupational Fire Protection, Emergency Management and Safe Rescue Operations at Heights and Depths, the stage programme on Workplace Design & Corporate Health, the Health and Safety

Meeting Point and the A+A Fashion Show are all elements dedicated to certain aspects of the entire spectrum, showing specific solutions for individual sectors, while providing visitors with hands-on experience, not just theoretical knowledge. The A+A 2017 ancillary programme also includes activities run by this year’s partner country, the UK, with the aim of encouraging German-British dialogue on industrial safety. The various events will be attended by representatives of important industry associations, institutions and policymakers. The trade fair, the special shows, the presentations at the Congress and the ILO Conference will all involve participation of the UK Health and Safety Executive, (HSE). The HSE is the national independent watchdog for work-related health, safety and illness. It acts in the public interest to reduce

work-related death and serious injury across Great Britain´s workplaces. Traditionally, the UK has provided the largest number of exhibitors at A+A: 85 UK companies exhibited in 2015, presenting their innovative products and services with a total display area of more than 3,700 square metres. A+A visitors include experts on industrial health and safety management, HR managers, works councils, buyers from industry, company doctors, fire services, the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), the police and owners of small businesses. When A+A was launched in 1954, it was set up as a nationally focused event on “Occupational Health and Safety and Occupational Medicine”, but it has since developed into an internationally influential forum on health and safety at work. It is held every two years. In 2015 there were some 1,890 exhibitors and more than 65,000 trade visitors, thus setting a new record in the show’s history.

Scott Bader exhibiting high performance fire retardant composite materials at Middle East Rail 2017 Scott Bader (stand H32), is exhibiting for the first time at Middle East Rail 2017, which takes place on 8-9 March at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Middle East Rail, now in its 10th successive year, is the region’s longest running and most successful railway event, which has helped shape the rail market in UAE and the wider Middle Eastern region. On the Scott Bader stand, will be its range of high performance composite resins and gelcoats, developed to meet the demanding mechanical and fire performance test standards for composite materials used in the rail industry for rolling stock and infrastructure applications. Scott Bader has invested heavily in R & D to develop high performance fire retardant FRP laminate systems and is now an established global composite materials provider to the rail industry. The Middle East is a key market for Scott Bader, which it has served for over 20 years from its locally based Scott Bader Middle East (SBME) production plant and offices in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai, UAE The plant is ideally positioned to manufacture and distribute Scott Bader’s wide range of polyester resins, vinyl esters, gelcoats, bonding pastes and structural adhesives throughout the Middle East, Africa, India and the Far East. Along with building & construction, chemical, transportation and marine, the rail sector has becoming an increasingly important part of its business in the Middle East, with a growing customer base. rail parts met various international FST rail approvals for station buildings, rolling stock and underground trains including: DIN 5510 S4/SR2/ST2; French Epiradeateur NFP 92-501-M1 and NFF 16-101-F0; and the Spanish M1/F0 fire resistance test for interior rail applications. Gray, Global Market Manager, Fire, Smoke & Toxic fume (FST) Performance products explains: “Scott Bader sees the growing rail industry in the Middle East as a major new business opportunity, following the success of our expanding rail business globally. The Middle East Rail Show is a key event, allowing us to showcase our technical products and successes in the rail industry from other territories”.

Advanced FST Performance FRP Systems Scott Bader has developed and supplied fire retardant (FR) thermoset resins and gelcoats for composites applications to the rail sector for over 35 years. Using latest technology high performance materials, both glass and carbon-fibre gelcoated and colour matched FRP composite parts can be cost effectively fabricated using an ATH filled Crestapol® resin grade with one of the Crystic® Fireguard FR gelcoats, including new ‘halogen free’ grades. The Crestapol 1212, 1214, 1216 and 1250LV resin grade options available can be heavily filled with ATH depending on the FR specification required for a specific application.

For interior applications needing a fire spread delay barrier, such as electrical enclosures, floor sections and roof panels, Scott Bader’s R & D team developed Crystic® Fireguard 75PA ‘Excel’, an intumescent topcoat which is applied to the internal side of an FRP laminate. This intumescent FR topcoat can withstand a direct flame at a temperature of 700 degrees C (1292 degrees F) for over 60 minutes without the laminate catching fire; and when used behind Crestapol 1212 the laminate system passes BS 476 Part 7 Class 1, Part 6, Class 0, and M1 F1. Matched laminate systems can be specified for a wide variety of both interior and exterior rolling stock and infrastructure applications that must pass stringent fire, smoke and toxicity (FST) standards, including the latest EN 45545 rail standard. Independent test results have given an EN 45545 HL2 pass rating to various glass fibre laminate matched systems using both hand lay-up and infusion ATHfilled Crestapol resin grades in combination with Crystic® Fireguard 70PA high performance FR gelcoat. Prior to the EN 45545 regulation, Crestapol-based FRP

Global Rail Applications Crestapol resins have established a global reputation with many leading manufacturers in the rail sector as a viable alternative to more traditional phenolic resins, providing more dimensionally stable parts with an excellent surface finish, plus superior mechanical performance in terms of shear strength, toughness and fatigue resistance. Many convertors and OEMs have found Crestapol resins to be much easier to process, offering improved productivity cost benefits, as well as being preferable to use on the shop floor, with its safer, more environmentally friendly resin chemistry compared to other FR thermoset resin systems. Scott Bader has significantly expanded its worldwide customer base over the last ten years, which now includes international train manufacturing companies such as: Alstom, Siemens and Bombardier. New rolling stock and rail infrastructure applications, both above ground and subterranean, using different grades of Crestapol resins and FR gelcoats, have been developed in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, North America and key Asian markets, particularly in China.

Zebion ushers-in a potent new Genre in the world of CCTV That’s exactly what Zebion’s latest release, a Fish-Eye camera called Celestial, purports to do. The coming of Celestial is especially noteworthy since customers can potentially replace four corner-mounted CCTV camera’s, with just one Fish Eye Lens camera mounted in the center of the surveillance area. This could be the middle of a large hall, or room, or warehouse, or office, or mall, or just about any large space … and that too without any loss in coverage. In the not too distant future you may find Fish Eye IP camera’s replacing multiple standard cameras. It just make better commercial sense. Celestial’s special Lens provides incredible wide angle coverage. simply place it on a wall for a panoramic 180° view of a room, or place it on a ceiling for a full 360° view without blind spots. By their very nature Fish Eye Lenses are small, ultra-wide, and show a distorted, spherical view of the world. The most evident photos online show curved perspectives, or sometimes, curved outer corners of the photo. This distortion is by choice however, and the perspective can easily be corrected (or straightened) to create a wide panoramic images. Indeed the most striking feature of Celestial is its Ultra wide angle lens capable of providing Panoramic Perspectives.

26

FEBRUARY 2017 | www.ind-safety.com

Some photographers and surveillance experts refer to this as Hemispherical images. In addition you can use advanced electronic-PTZ features seen through usually a Quad perspective, so you can surveil different parts of a large area simultaneously. See Image 1. The software that comes along with Celestial is capable of rending many types of views and perspectives. Two, three or more people can install the software application and perform E-PTZ features simultaneously, off the same camera. Some people may accidently imagine that the camera has multiple lenses – but this is an error. There is just one lens and its fixed in nature. The simultaneous operations are possible by the miracles of modern software. So while one Security officer is zooming into an individual, another can fully zoom our, and another

can perform a preset 360 degree panning operation – all happening concurrently. Best of all being a true IP system the celestial can be viewed from anywhere in the world at real time. That too completely void of blind spots, which has been the chief nemesis of the surveillance engineer since this field gained prominence, and the only drawback in CCTV itself. It looks that the limitation of blind spots has finally been solved by a unique design (Circular dome), a unique

mounting location (center of the room), a unique lens (Ultra wide angle fish eye), and a unique tool (advanced software performing mapping functions). Celestial also has access point mode (AP Mode) through which you can surveil within a 10 meter radius without hooking up to the internet.

Quantum’s flash integration helps drive 62% growth in enterprise deduplication revenue Quantum Corp. (NYSE: QTM) highlighted its significant market momentum in disk-based backup and deduplication, as both existing and new customers increasingly deploy the company’s DXi® appliances to address their changing data protection requirements. In the first nine months of Quantum’s fiscal year (April 1-Dec. 31, 2016), overall product and related service revenue from disk backup sales grew 14 percent over the same period a year earlier, with revenue from enterprise DXi products up 62 percent. According to IDC’s Worldwide Quarterly Purpose-Built Backup Appliance Tracker, Quantum was also among the top five largest deduplication providers and one of only two companies in the top five that generated year-over-year growth in the third calendar quarter of 2016. In addition, Storage magazine/SearchStorage.com has selected the DXi6900-S as a finalist for the 2016 Products of the Year awards in the Data Backup Hard-

ware category. Quantum’s deduplication leadership is further reflected in its broad and expanding customer base around the world, which includes numerous Fortune 500 companies and other organizations such as Hawaii State Department of Health, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, Oxford University Press, OSI Food, The Salvation Army, University of Bristol, University of San Diego and West Australian News.

Enterprises Coping With Growth Adopt DXi6900-S With Flash Technology One of the recent drivers of Quantum’s deduplication market momentum is the DXi6900-S. Introduced only five months ago, the new appliance is designed for large, multi-site data protection environments, where

customers are confronting the challenges of backing up mission-critical databases and other digital assets under increasingly tighter backup windows and more demanding business requirements. By leveraging SSDs for metadata operations, the DXi6900-S delivers ultra-fast ingest, read, replication and space reclamation performance. It was also the first deduplication appliance to incorporate 8TB self-encrypting drives, providing the highest density backup available — up to 544TB (useable) in 18U of rack space, or 10PB of logical storage at a 20:1 deduplication ratio. In addition, the DXi6900-S is significantly more efficient than other deduplication appliances, consuming 50 percent less power than competitive offerings. All these advantages have resulted in quick customer adoption of DXi6900-S and reinforced the overall strength of Quantum’s DXi product line.

Children’s health system selects HID Global solution for electronic prescriptions HID Global®, a worldwide leader in trusted identity solutions, announced it has deployed a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)-compliant and government certified solution for Electronic Prescriptions of Controlled Substances (EPCS) at Nemours Health System. The solution easily integrates with the Nemours’ Epic Electronic Health Records (EHR) system to automate their paper-based prescription system and provide and enhanced patience experience. In addition to increasing overall productivity, the new system makes pharmacy visits faster and more convenient for patients by eliminating the need to obtain paper-based prescriptions and reducing wait times. According to a study by NASSCOM, the Indian healthcare IT market is valued at $1billion (about Rs 6,650 crore) and is likely to grow about 1.5 times by 2020. With increasing customer adoption, privatization of healthcare and rapid growth of technologies like predictive analytics and cloud, India poses tremendous opportunities for the healthcare IT market. HID Global has also announced that the solution is available in India. Nemours’ previous manual process was extremely inconvenient for prescribing physicians and they could not issue prescriptions to patients during Telemedicine sessions -- an otherwise efficient and real-time means for delivery of care. “Our mission is to be the guardians of children’s health and joy, which also extends to being the guardians of their

34

health information,” said Bernie Rice, chief information officer with Nemours Children’s Health System. “To fulfill our mission, we needed an e-prescribing solution that would enable us to provide the exact care our patients need, when and where they need it, and that minimized impact on home and work life while providing all necessary protections for personal data.” The new HID Global solution provides the convenience for the prescribing physician to choose the authentication mode that best fit his or her workflow in a given scenario. It empowers Nemours to attach a digital certificate of ID authentication to a FIPS 140.2 certified credential, using IdenTrust as the Certificate Authority for each authorized prescriber. The HID Global credentials also include one-time password (OTP) functionality that allows EPCS authentication using an OTP, without the need of a desktop reader.

The solution includes: • ActivID® Credential Management System (CMS) and ActivID Authentication Server • OMNIKEY® readers/encoders and FIPS 140.2 contact credentials with an OTP and display window • FARGO® printers and AsureID® software to print customize credentials • HID Professional Services™ for project management, installation, workflow analysis, training and support “HID Global’s vast portfolio of secure identity solutions made it

possible for us to deliver a highly customized system that addresses Nemours unique requirements,” said Sheila Loy with HID Global. “Our goal is to leverage our comprehensive offering to help organizations improve their users’ overall experience while increasing security at the same time. The new Nemours system is a positive reflection of how an organization can accomplish these twin objectives using HID Global solutions.” Nemours Children’s Health System has reported significant improvements in their prescribing physicians’ experience, where they can now quickly and simply authenticate to write online narcotic prescriptions, in full compliance, from the hospital, a clinic, other work locations and from home. The hospital noted the solution is cost-effective and easy to support by their IT department and medical assistants are saving time in managing requests. Prescriptions can now be digitally monitored and tracked to eliminate paper and storage costs, and they can be sent for fulfillment prior to patients’ arrival. Investigations that were previously more difficult and time-consuming are also faster and more streamlined with digital documentation of all prescriptions. “We are seeing extremely rapid adoption rates for our new e-prescribing system, and overwhelmingly positive feedback since its roll-out,” said Dr. David West, medical director for Nemours Health Informatics and the physician champion for the

EPCS project. “Based on of the early success the deployment, we are now exploring how to leverage the HID Global EPCS architecture for other valuable capabilities, such as authenticating to VPNs and enabling remote access using credentials, key fobs, mobile smartphones, and other smart devices and one-time password tokens.”

Cylinder Less Automatic Fire Detection & Suppression System Technology

Universal use: high flexibility of BlazeCut Tube and A, B, C and electrical fires class rating can protect almost any space High cost-effectivity: zero maintenance, long working life, automatic activation beats the competition in cost-effectivity

Stainless steel fittings

No cylinder for storage of extinguishing agent needed: the whole system can be placed inside the protected enclosure Option to connect the pressure switch and other additional components like signaling unit to perform further functions

Pressure gauge Heat sensitive BlazeCut Tube with the extinguishing agent

The system consists of a heat sensitive BlazeCut Tube made of special plastic which is closed by a stainless steel fitting on each end. The BlazeCut Tube has both storage and detection function which means that the extinguishing agent is stored directly in the BlazeCut Tube and no additional storage device such as cylinder is needed. BlazeCut system operates automatically independent of any power supply by detecting higher temperatures. When the temperature in the protected enclosure rises to a critical threshold, the detection tube melts down at the point where the affecting temperature is the highest. Melting the tube creates a hole releasing the entire extinguishing agent stored in the tube onto the source of the fire. BlazeCut “T” Series systems are supplied in various lengths of the tube and volumes of agent. The standard volume of agent ranges from 0,25 kg to 1,0 kg, which is sufficient to protect enclosures with volume between 0,25 m³ and 1,00 m³ respectively.

Clean and effective extinguishing agent: world-wide known and accepted HFC gases (HFC-227ea and HFC-236fa) No pressurization needed: the system works by increasing pressure of the extinguishing agent when heated Automatic operation based on increased temperature: ideal for non-occupied spaces or spaces out of sight Fully independent: system is operational 24/7 without any power supply No maintenance during entire working life = zero maintenance costs Long working life: 5 ~ 6 years depending on the type of application No harm to protected enclosure and people when discharged Very simple installation: no training required for installation Pressure gauge to monitor the pressure at any time

ontinued growth during 2016 resulted in record sales for the fourth quarter and for the full-year. For the first time, we generated sales of more than SEK 2 billion in a quarter, while full-year sales were well over SEK 7 billion. The weak Swedish krona had a significant positive effect on our growth during the fourth quarter. The full-year effect was not as significant. Our investments in development of new products and solutions made a strong contribution to growth. In 2016,

POWER OF WOMEN

Women Contribution in ‘MAKE IN INDIA’ 46

FEBRUARY 2017 | www.ind-safety.com

COVER STORY |

T

he status of women in the Indian society has undergone a drastic change in the past few decades. From being a mere housewife to working as a dynamic multitasking individual, women in India have been able to successfully carve out a niche for themselves and leave behind a mark in various spheres of life, including in professions that are male-dominated. Women are now playing a crucial role in the growth of the economy and have made a substantial impact and achieved success across all sectors. However, Indian women in manufacturing account for only 20% of the total workforce which is relatively less compared to other countries, like China. For more women to be a part of the workforce, it is essential to promote skill development as this enhances productivity and efficiency, increasing employment opportunities and resulting in increased income. There has been a constant increase in the percentage of women entrepreneurs in India. However, there exists a dire need of more women participation in the country. Female talent still remains one of the most underutilized resources in the country. India ranks 87 out of 144 countries on the Global Gender Index Gap, as per the report which compares the data across four parameters: Health, education, political empowerment, and economic participation and parity. Though the women participation is increasing in every sector, the economy is losing money due to gender parity. A study conducted by McKinsey stated that India could increase its GDP by 16% to 60% just by enabling women to participate in the economy on the same footing as men. We cannot have men-only factories while an ambitious ‘Make In India’ programme gets going. It is important to remember that manufacturing, in which China and Taiwan have made a mark, has an active participation by women. Under all these circumstances, there are women in India who have made a mark and continue to be world’s most powerful women entrepreneurs in various sectors.

Pharmaceutical and Healthcare: The pharmaceutical and healthcare sector has seen enterprising women leaders.

Swati Piramal, a pioneer in pharmaceutical empire, campaigned for new drug research and highlighted the importance of scientific innovation. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, another exemplary woman leader who founded Biocon, the country’s leading biotechnology enterprise has immensely contributed to research, innovation and affordable health care. She has been also conferred upon with the ‘2014 Othmer Gold Medal’ and the coveted ‘2014 Global Economy Prize’ for business by German based Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

Women CXO’s: There are multiple spheres where women have achieved success at the CXO level. Vinita Bali, former MD of Britannia Industries quadrupled the company’s revenue to USD 989 million in financial year in 201314 from USD 248 million in 2005-06. She is the only Indian who is a part of the United Nations committee that was set up to lead the ‘Scaling Up Nutrition’ across the globe. Another name which is counted among India’s most inspiring women is Indira Nooyi, who has ensured a steady revenue growth ever since she was appointed the chairperson and CEO, PepsiCo, the second largest food and beverage business in the world.

Banking: Women hold the reins of some of the largest Indian banks and financial services companies. The biggest example is that of the chairperson of State Bank of India, Arundhati Bhattacharya, who is the first person to hold this position. She was named among the 50 most powerful women, a list compiled by Fortune. Besides her, are the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank, Chandna Kochar, and Managing Director and CEO of Axis Bank, Shikha Sharma, both of whom have played a significant role in the development and progress of the retail banking sector in India. Another achievement in this industry was the establishment of an all-women’s bank, Bhartiya Mahila Bank Ltd in August 2013. A pan India bank, BMB has over 100 branches across the country. The bank focuses on providing monetary assistance to

economically neglected, discriminated, rural and urban women.

Capacity Building Movement Undertaken to Build Skilled Workforce: It has been noted that out of 4,500 startups, only one in 10 were founded by women. If we include women in the economic process, the GDP can increase upto 60%. If more women are encouraged to become entrepreneurs, the economy of the country would change drastically.

Digital India: Digital India aims to transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. The first Women Village level Entrepreneur Conference was held in March 2015, a step in the positive direction.

Startup and Stand up India: Both startup and stand up India initiatives empower women entrepreneurs and provide financial assistance to those who are setting up their businesses. The programmes also aid those who have already established their business but fall under the startup category. Through these schemes, the government aims to turn women from job-seekers to job-creators. “Entrepreneurs” or ladies who are doing phenomenal odd jobs from the domains of their homes, are the latest to attract attention in the world of business in India. From making and selling eatables, to opening small garment boutiques, the Indian women are not shying from making that extra contribution to their economic well-being.

The Road Ahead: With the advent of technology and digitization, there is a revolution in the way women are doing business. Some of them are already successful entrepreneurs and many more are joining the ‘young entrepreneur group.’ To make ‘Make in India’ a success, women participation should be encouraged and promoted as key drivers.

| BUDGET REACTION

UNION BUDGET 2017 REACTION Mr. Takayuki Inaba, Managing Director, NEC India

Mr. Sudhindra Holla, India Country Manager, Axis Communications

Mr. Prabhakar Jayakumar, Country Manager, DigitalOcean

We support the Agenda of this year’s Budget 2017-18 - Transform, Energize & Clean (TEC India) presented by Finance minister Arun Jaitley .With the Government’s renewed focus on infrastructure, transportation and healthcare sectors, we see conducive growth for the security and surveillance industry. Axis Communications sees tremendous potential in India as a market for security solutions as the country is experiencing rapid economic growth and sectors like banking, IT, transportation, retail, healthcare including the Government, City Surveillance/Safe City & Critical Infrastructure where security is a key concern.

The Government’s announcement to allow eligible startups to avail their 3-year tax holiday in a block of 7 years as against the earlier 5 years is a useful one and should give further impetus to the Startup India initiative. Also, the intent to move towards a cashless economy and initiatives to strengthen the digital infrastructure augurs well for the ecosystem

48

FEBRUARY 2017 | www.ind-safety.com

With the Union Budget 2017-18, Government has continued to strengthen infrastructure sector which is a positive step towards transforming the nation. The emphasis on massive infrastructure development will give a further impetus to PM Modi’s smart cities mission and safe city initiatives in India. The Government’s focus improving railway services, infrastructure and amenities will also rationalise the country’s transportation architecture. We hope that the investment in the transport sector will also focus on execution of smart transportation solutions in India. We welcome government’s push for financial inclusion through Aadhar enabled payment system which will be beneficial to citizens who do not have an access to banking system. This launch will ensure easy transactions for those without debit cards, mobile wallets or mobile phones. As we foresee India’s digital payment system growing, the government’s plan to allocate funds and benefits for UPI based payments and other digital payments is a boost to the digital economy of the country. Orissa Police Sets Benchmark in

E-SURVEILLANCE

O

rissa has largely been a peaceful state despite having its own share of problems. Many parts of the state being dominated by the Naxalites, law and order remains a sensitive issue. To proactively track the activities around police stations, Orissa police decided to equip itself with e-surveillance. The objective was not only to mitigate the corruption and suspicious activities, but also to keep track of suspicious elements and activities. Besides, the police administration wanted to ensure the fair treatment to civilians when they access them at the police stations.

Mission Orissa police had to set a benchmark by ensuring its functions are transparent and people friendly. In a bid to modernize and ensure effective policing in various areas, they decided to secure police stations by installing closed circuit cameras (CCTVs). These police stations were selected based on their sensitivity and location. Besides, police wanted to safeguard the rights of the people after receiving many complaints of violations. They wanted to keep a close eye on agitations and demonstrations and record incidences of scripted incidences aimed at tarnishing image of police. The alternative significant objective was to bring about a change in the behavior of the police. Objective, tamper-proof video evidence indeed brings about a significant modification in the behavior of everyone concerned. This intuition has been backed up by psychological studies.

Solution CP PLUS team was fully aware of the tactical and situational surveillance challenges at police stations. The team has a challenging task of covering 200

features that help to produce enhanced images in hostile environmental conditions. • CP-UAR-0808Q2D-XU: 8 Channel Full D1 1080P 1.5U Standalone DVR • This is H.264 dual-stream video compression capable of delivering a Full channel D1 (4CIF) real-time recording. All channels can simultaneously playback and offer smart search. Smart video detection can report Motion Detection (MD), camera blank and video loss. police stations spread across 20 districts. The team observed that the risk for each police station varied from others. The team evaluated the risk and divided it into two parts. One was common risk and another was specific to that area. The local risk included, for example, frequent agitations by local public, loitering by anti-social elements, political agitations over local issues, etc. The specific risk was based on the past history of incidences and their recurrence. Further, the task was to ensure safety of the police staff proactively by tracking activities within and outside police stations. Equipped with the wide portfolio of CP PLUS products and solutions that offer the flexibility to design fool-proof design/ solution without any security compromise, the system architecture team came up with a tailor made solution for Orissa police. The solution involved the following items: • CP-EAC-TY60MVFL8-E - High Resolution High range Vari-Focal IR Bullet camera - 80 Mtr • This is 600 TVL High resolutions Analog IR Camera with 12 Japanese LEDs and a capacity to view even in dark within 80 meters. Also has AGC, AWB and BLC

Result The responsive and precise capabilities of the cameras and DVRs with the extended day/night video resolution equipped police stations with a comprehensive allweather 24x7 surveillance round the year. The surveillance system equipped police stations with much required tactical and situational surveillance. After the huge success of first phase implementation, Orissa police is contemplating to deploy the system to cover other areas of the state as well.

“We leveraged a number of cameras from different locations which were tied into the same network. For general situational awareness, we used standard definition cameras. For our highest tier of tactical surveillance, there was a compelling need for really high-definition video to arrive at concrete decisions”, mentioned Mr. Rahman, Microsys Infotech & Telecom Pvt. Ltd, our collaborating partner for the project.

B

ird flu, or avian flu, is an infectious influenza that affects and is spread by birds, particularly poultry. Despite not being transmitted from human to human, particular strains of the bird flu virus can infect humans, leading to serious illness and even death. Recent reports warn that a highlyinfectious strain of the virus has emerged affecting 14 countries, including Germany, France and Denmark. Denmark appears to be one of the worst hit countries: Danish authorities have ordered a cull of 63,000 broiler hens and imposed a ban on transporting all poultry materials amid fears the virus could sweep across the nation. HD CCTV technology is a high definition closed-circuit television video surveillance standard that uses coax cable to transmit HD video from security cameras to DVRs. AHD supports 720p and 1080p HD video resolutions. The technology uses a progressive scan while forming a signal and division of brightness and color components of an analog signal: that allows eliminating a blur and blinking, improving a color reproduction. LONG-DISTANCE TRANSMISSION The Titanium Series HD cameras can transfer 720p and 1080p resolution at 25 frames per second and 30 frames per second HD video over coaxial 75-3 or similar standard coaxial cable at the range of 500 meters. Thus giving you the best resolution without any quality losses at a long distance of 500 Meters. AFFORDABILITY AND QUALITY One of the most important factor is this range of cameras provide Secured high definition security surveillance in analog’s price. Thus these Cameras are the BEST QUALITY at a reasonable price.

Qualitative video without latencies Unlike IP Cameras HD cameras transmit data that is not encoded resulting in no process and no delay in real time transmission. It Transmits Data seamlessly.

CONCLUSION: Compared with CVI, AHD and TVI are open technologies. Keep in mind, they are not compatible each other. Interoperability is a big problem among these analog technologies. This means if you use AHD cameras, you have to use AHD DVRs. CVI cameras must work with CVI DVRs, TVI cameras must work with TVI cameras. Thus to solve this issue we have developed a 5 IN 1 HD DVR which supports AHD, HDCVI, HDTVI, IP and ANALOG Cameras using just one DVR. This DVR also supports Cameras starting from 1 to 4 Megapixel. Thus making it easy for any installer or integrator to install Titanium range of Cameras.

QR Code based Access Control Guidelines to Generate QR Code:

E

verything we do today is done through a single ‘tap’ on our mobile devices. With a single ‘tap’ we can share things on social media, check our health status, communicate with others, so on and so forth. A similar trend can be seen with access control, which first started with the RFID cards. Then it was biometrics and now we see the dawn of mobile credentials for access control. Matrix’s “Your Mobile is Your Identity” technology offers QR Code based Identification for opening doors by simply scanning the QR code from an authorised mobile phone through COSEC APTA App. It is a simple process of authentication that offers convenience to users while increasing the overall security of an organization at the same time.

How it Works: • User has to scan QR Code given by the door using COSEC APTA application from a Mobile phone registered with the COSEC CENTRA server. • Camera will start by twisting a mobile phone or opening it from the COSEC APTA application. • COSEC APTA sends user event to COSEC ARC door controller for user access verification. • Upon verification, COSEC ARC door controller opens the door lock connected to its relay port.

68

FEBRUARY 2017 | www.ind-safety.com

Application: The solution is highly useful under below mentioned circumstances: Where Door Controllers are Difficult to Install by the Door E.g. Glass Doors: Installing door controllers on glass doors may cause the glass to break. Instead, we can directly stick a QR Code on the glass and mount COSEC ARC on a din-rail above the door. For a Cost Effective Solution This solution eliminates reader as well as door controller costs.

Target Audience: • Corporates: Easy to install at glass doors and office chambers. • Healthcare: Being a contactless technology, the solution prevents hygiene issues. • BFSI: End to end encryption increases the overall security. • Manufacturing: 100% user identification irrespective of fingerprint quality.

Devices Required: • COSEC APTA (Mobile App) • COSEC ARC • COSEC PANEL LITE V2 (Optional – required if used COSEC ARC V1)

• Encrypt the key through https://www. tools4noobs.com/online_tools/encrypt. • The key should contain the following code. This information needs to be encrypted: {“version”:”1”,”ip”:”IP of Door Controller/PANEL LITE”,” port”:”80”, ”pdid”:”0”,”mode”:”0”} Where: Set Mode: “0” for Entry, “1” for Exit pdid: Set “0” in case of Direct Door Insert “Door ID” in case of Panel Door Version: Set “1” by Default Port: Set “80” by Default • Once you generate the encrypted string, you may generate the QR Code through https://www.the-qrcode-generator.com/
