DESIGN ASSISTANT AT DOT QA

P R O J E C T 2 : INTERIOR DESIGN FOR A HOUSE

DOT QA provides design solutions with a focus on building low cost housing and sustainable interior finishes..

Here my brief was to remodel an existing house to a Guest House. The space was designed along the lines of a studio apartment

P R O J E C T 1 : RESTAURANT INTERIOR

The idea was to create two different entities inside the environment connected by the sense of vitality catering to both a Fine Dine Experience as well as a Lounge Camry. Since the need was to address two different setups a unique system of connect was introduced without creating a jargon or a chaotic approach.

TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS OF

A GEN-X ARCHITECT

A peak into the astounding rise of carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere and the impact it has been having on nature . The motive behind this paper was if we as architects can bring about a difference or are we just going to remain as mute spectators. I went on to present a case study to formulate a method of reducing the impact of carbon dioxide by implementing some basic techniques which could help us greatly in becoming carbon neutral . Carbon Sequestration being one of the recent studies by global climate change initiative was studied and implemented in the case study . Author : Divya Srinivasan Green Design Symposium , Madurai

SECTION

With the concept being the monsoon theme , the main idea is to focus on the different cultural aspects of the places and to bring about a sense of versatility into the whole space .

The idea is to split the land mass into two main Branches just like the Indian landmass is split into the Arabian and the Bay Of Bengal branch which will constitute the different zones respectively.

Enhance views

OPTION 2 Zoning according to culture

orientation

Emphasis on linking element connecting The different cultural zones

The idea is to treat the site as the Indian Landmass itself, fragmented into different zones, With a common thread(link)that is connecting All the zones , with each zone having its own distinctive features..(cusine,traditional gallery, spa..etc)

COMPETITION PROJECT: MUSIC PAVILLION To design a music lounge to facilitate music listening and cultivate music culture among stressed out working individuals in offices. The lounge redefines music listening and experience. A space for exhibiting talents and to conduct program among individuals The concept was evolved to form single a continuous ribbon module entire module is made out of a single continuous running block of same thickness forming the modules The MUSIC LOUNGE is divided into four spaces PERFORMANCE SPACE For live bands to perform. this area will accommodate a convertible stage/dais for 2 performers. while not in use it can be used as a interactive seating space INTERACTIVE SPACE This area provides interaction between individuals while listening to music played in the music lounge SOLITARY SPACE For individual music listening where music is experienced in isolation SEMI SOLITARY SPACE Includes flexibility for both solitary environment and interactive space. the semi solitary space provides reading and relaxing space also

The primary module is the main single module which forms the basic structure or the skeletal framework providing support to the secondary module The secondary modules is interior framework of the design unit. the interior is broken into two or three modules. the modules are broken according to interactive and solitary spaces.

RESTORATION: THE MAIN BUILDING AND THE SERVANT’S QUARTERS ARE CONNECTED BY THE OUTER EXHIBITION AREA. THE MAIN BUILDING IS CONVERTED INTO AN INDOOR EXHIBITION AREA. EXTENSION: JUST ON THE REAR END OF THE MAIN BUILDING BETWEEN THE INDOOR AND THE OUTDOOR EXHIBITION AREAS, THERE ARE GALLERIES ON THE THREE LEVELS, SUPPORTED BY A PARALLEL WALL OF 10 METERS HIGH, SERVING AS A BACKDROP TO THE EXISTING MAIN BUILDING (INDOOR EXHIBITION AREA). THE WALLS OF THE BUILDING AND FRONT FAÇADE ARE PRESERVED AND RESTORED. EXTENSION TO THE BUILDING OUTDOOR EXHIBITION, GALLERIES AND AN AMPHITHEATRE. RENOVATION: THE ROOFS ARE DESIGNED AND RECONSTRUCTED TO FACILITATE EXHIBITION.

The entire design is split into two main parts. a prototype is developed for an flexible design according to the requirements of the offices. The prototype is split into two modules primary module and secondary modules

COMPETITION The design of our furniture was purely an inspiration from the different Postures of a human body . The main intention was to Provide comfortable seating in different postures while reading.

3D MODELLING

FEATURES : •Reading light •Pull and push table •Storage deck for books. FIXING DETAIL : one of the major crises faced by a Lot of people in regard to furniture is maintenance. MATERIALS : The skeleton of the furniture is made of wood Memory foam for cushioning Leather used as exterior covering.

•The furniture is cantilevered by 1.2m and is Mounted by metal rods. •Steel rods run through the furniture acting as Reinforcement and hence avoids tension.
