STUDENT HIGHLIGHT
B O OTH H ON OR S PR O GR A M August Barlow became involved in the Booth Honors Program because he wanted to attend medical school and was looking for something to help set him apart. “My dream is to be a practicing pediatrician and I’m only three years away from it,” August said. He not only got into medical school, but was also recently accepted to pediatric residency at Primary Children’s Hospital.
COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES IMPROVE OTHERS’ QUALITY OF LIFE THROUGH DYNAMIC FIELDS LIKE HEALTHCARE, DENTAL HYGIENE, HEALTH & HUMAN PERFORMANCE, AND MORE.
In the College of Health Sciences, you’ll be able to take part in programs like ‘Go Baby Go’, which gives several children with disabilities the gift of mobility through the use of customized toy cars.
100% 100% of Surgical Technology, Dental Hygiene, Medical Radiography, and Physical Therapist Assistant graduates passed their national credentialing exams on the first attempt.
August valued all of the additional resources that come with being part of the Booth Honors Program, including having a quiet study room as well as access to a computer, printer, mini fridge, and even swag. He also appreciated the added connections he built with advisors and campus leadership. “I got to meet the Utah Tech University president several times and that was very cool,” he said. “Now, when I attend alumni events, the president knows my name.” August also went on a trip to Peru as part of a research class in the biology department. “One of the goals of the Booth Honors Program is to get experiences outside of your degree and traveling to another country is a pretty cool experience! The trip helped me broaden my horizons and realize that the world is vast and different. It also afforded me a lot of cultural opportunities.” August’s advice to any students considering being part of the Booth Honors Program? “You don’t have to be smarter than everyone else; you just have to be willing to put in the effort,” he said. “The program offers you a diverse education along with advanced experiences and cultural immersion.” Honors students benefit from priority registration, exclusive scholarships and travel grants, unique research opportunities, and more.
