Olneyville Square II | A Close-Loop Watertreatment Experiment Site Urban Ecology FALL 2017 Critic: Manuel Cordero-Alvarado
The main concept of this project is to create a New Olneyville Square with a more private residential courtyard and an open public plaza, and a public path cutting through the site.

This residential complex is designed for family of four or five, and programs on the first floor of the buildings include daycare, dry and clean laundry service, grocery, and dining hall. The Public Zone consists with public grocery shops, clothing store, CafĂŠ and retails.
The living machine within the private zone is made of a connected system of Extensive Green Roof and Greenhouse, Green Wall, and the Bio-retentive Strips, where these three systems will filter grey water, and two of the three will store rainwater.
These two units are designed for families consist of four to five family members (two parents and two or three children) Vegetation

The use of water is different between the two zones: The program for water in the Residential Zone consists of filtering rainwater and grey water to use in bathrooms and kitchens in the residential buildings; and the program for water in the Public Zone is to collect rainwater and to ensure the pathway is safe to walk during heavy rain seasons. And most of the path are grounded with permeable materials.

DENSITY Sainte Marie de La Tourette Analysing and Re-designing Le Corbusier’s “Archi-fact” Architectural Analysis Spring 2017 Critic: Gabriel Feld
Architectural Projection challenges students’ critical thinking towards contempo-rary buildings as artifacts, which should be thoroughly analyzed and studied. The tools we were allowed to do at the first step is to draft the section, plan, axo-nometric, and exposed axonometric drawings; this not only gave us the idea of how the structure of the building function, and it also gave us space to explore what interests us the most. In the study of Le Corbusier’s Sainte Marie de La Tourette in France, I learnt that the Dominican dormitories are the densest part through the drafting process. So, I proceeded to investigate more on the density of La Tourette.
THE TERRAC-ED LIBRARY Architecture Design Spring 2017 Critic: Dongwoo Yim
Each of the student was given with two wooden cubes to cut into our desired forms without addition or subtraction.
FORM STUDIES
With different material thickness, these terraces can be seen in the same form but in different scales: Rooms, Bookshelves, seating, and stairs

SITE ANALYSIS
treet The Site is near Downtown Providence, on 148-170 Dorrance Street. It is a parking lot. The site analysis is based on the intensity of sound around the site.

With the form studies and the site analysis in mind, some changes were made to solve both issues and bringing new issues such as lighting, whic h in this case, few light tubes were added through a boxed shape library design. 3.5F

the distribution of the ink in the water forms a field of tracings
From studying and observing the ink slowly sinking through water and penetrating the surface of water in a glass jar to analyze the spatial quality of the ink occupying within the water, this project challenges the process of making a design principle for myself, and how from a more natural form to an architectural form. Each of the student was asked to choose a ritual, which in this case, I chose the Chanting Session at a Buddhist Monastery. The sounds quality of the chanting session was the key to connect the form analyzed by me from the ink dropping exercise to the form designed for the monastery.
