Design of the Intergenerational Community center in Ogden, based on people and their connection to nature, the longing to be at one with it. The principle that the human species has a sub cognitive connection with the world around us; we dream and strive to become a part of it. People accomplish this with hobbies, activities or just the glance out a window as you pass. Most of us do not even notice when we are dreaming of the outdoors. The building design is designed to allow the inhabitants within to gain full appreciation of the world beyond. Through large front facade windows attached slat shading system that offsets the solar heat gain during Utah's dry and hot climate. Each prefabricated living module is equipped with an outdoor balcony for mountain views; as well each has direct access to an individual garden patio, the goal is to get the seniors out into the world easily. Each individual living unit is offset a distance of six feet to allow unobstructed views of the natural world to its inhabitants. The overall building design is composed of ample general outdoor space, a partly shaded roof top garden, landscaped site with underground parking. The building has multiple passageways and open corridors to allow natural convection to help with the environmental control of the building. The close proximity to public transportation, parks and golf will allow seniors in the community to have ample opportunities for recreation, and of course the fifteen minute drive to Utah Powder for skiing. The design goal of the building is to provide an enriched senior living environment that promotes and more healthy and outdoor lifestyle for our aging population reducing the need for medications.

Early design studies, diagrams of ideas and concepts I wish to incorporate in the design. Such things as nature, proper circulation ,passive heating and cooling strategies, structure and prefabrication. I began thinking about what we are on this world; and how everything eventually breaks down to rejoin it in the end. The process of life is similar to the sense of community; One joins, learns and studies to become part of its culture and or world.

Design sketches illustrating possible ways to incorporate design goals and performance requirements; early explorations of living wall systems, how to insert a living landscape into the building, giving back to what it took from the earth; Allowing people to have personal gardens and generate a local source of food. Designing to allow air movement through the structure; reducing the load on the electrical system, paired with large windows for maximum day lighting for energy and wellbeing of people inside.

RETAIL GREENSPACE
SKILLED NURSING GREENSPACE ASST. LIVING STAIRS/EXITS
The space plan of the structure is designed for allowing a multiple array of necessities on site; the complex will house seniors on the upper levels with ample retail and community space on the first three floors, eliminating the need for seniors to travel great distances; but as important bring the outside community into the space, the seniors do not feel isolated from the community, the become a key integral part of it. The Master plan site is adjacent to the Weber River, Weber Parkway and the new park being created as part of the downtown restoration project of Ogden.

MOUNTAIN VIEWS FROM EACH UNIT
MODULES AND STRUCTURE ASSEMBLY
Assisted Living and Independent living modules will be simple constructed elements allowing ease of manufacture and installation. Units will be of similar size and design not allowing people to become identified by class and social status, eliminating envy. They will be mixed on all levels thus people do not associate status based on what floor seniors occupy, a mixture of independent and assisted living arrangements on each level. Each unit will offer day lighting and unobstructed views of the mountains, thus increasing quality of life of inhabitants.

Diagram of how the skilled nursing components will interact with main structure and lower retail and community space. The skilled nursing community are based on each floor being a "Small House" design; each unit is arranged radial in plan, with eight individual suites off a central common shared living environment, allowing interaction and involvement of even the most physically and mentally demanding residents on site. Each suite still has large glass facade to allow daylight and views, they are rotated around the central axis of the common space allowing views for each unit. Directly attached to each unit is a shared outdoor space that can be used as a garden and outdoor activity space; residents choose to upkeep themselves or choose a maintenance plan, it is encouraged that each person tries out their green thumb, as it helps reduce medication and increases mood. Exit stairs will be located at each end and in the middle accompanied by a service and human means of vertical transportation system, to meet codes for means of egress issues.

Redesign of the kitchen area, within Lake point Tower in Chicago, Illinois. The tower is a Luxury Lakeside living complex of multiple size apartment and condominiums. The overall building design is a simple and clean approach, The original Architects used a clean and refined feel mixed with a curvilinear form along the outer edges of each unit. I used this idea in my design; I have a liner simple and functional design accented with small and simple curved forms, used to soften the space up. The color scheme is a simple and chic black and white. I incorporated a bar area, seating for six to eight guests as the owners often entertain and seldom cook. the kitchen has all electric appliances to follow guidelines for building regulations. The area provides a large prep area for caterers to work or guests to socialize with the clients.

The kitchen contains a single oven, dual warming drawers and electric induction cook top, dual dishwashers, service sink as well as a main kitchen sink/prep area. I area for a staffed bar tender is built into the hallway to gain access to the water heater, allowing storage of top shelf drinks and stemware. Millwork is constructed from a simple finish grade MDF painted a semi-gloss white with black solid surface countertops for ease of maintenance and durability. The kitchen provides ample storage room as well as multiple lighting configurations to please all functions.

In design of the master suite I continued the use of the same design elements into the space, importantly updating the fixtures and lighting to suite the client's needs. In the bathroom they clients have a double glass shower, available for use individually and or together. A double sink area with a seating chair for make-up, as well as a in Mirror television as per client request. A large soaking tub is provided for relaxing after a long day at work, cedar benches accent the shower and sitting area chosen for its low maintenance and great appeal.

All plumbing fixtures utilize the existing mechanical chase of the building allowing slight movement without the need to disturb the concrete floor slab underneath which would increase cost. I built in storage for linens and garments into the sink base as well as in the circular cutouts in the wall which could hold small wrapped up hand towels if owner wanted.

The glass wall shower has a half height metal stud framed wall allowing proper hook up of water fixtures as well as privacy from the water closet area, The ceiling has multiple dropped locations to provide tracks for lighting and Mechanical equipment install. The water closet is a wall mounted fixture allowing relocation along the mechanical chase wall.

space study diagram public vs. private
The redesign of the Rossi apartment was for Residential design studio, The program wanted to design a One bedroom apartment above the owners winery below. The owners where avid collectors of modern art and sculpture, we had to choose an artist to base the design concept from. I chose several paintings from Robert Motherwell as my inspiration. I extracted the balance and use of abstract and geometric forms to analyze and develop into a three -dimensional form. I used this abstract geometric form to provide the order and structure for my design'; utilizing it to create areas of built-in shelving that separates the large footprint into functional zones. I used this repetition of form throughout the space to form a plant wall located near the breakfast nook, to architectural detailing of the space.

architectural design 3D (REVIT) 28
3d rendering Documentation from Design Graphics Engineering course Architectural Design 3D, course was an overview of REVIT Architecture, Structure and MEP software to generate plans for a two story Law Office building. Course provided an overview of Structural detailing and connections as well as commercial construction materials and methods. We spent time to learn how to design and size proper HVAC systems and then model them in REVIT MEP. Course was a great opportunity to improve my knowledge in structure and foundation systems and how they interrelate with each other. Designing systems to work together in one pakage.

portland cafe’ + health and wellness center 36
1st floor cafe & office, reception
2nd floor bedrooms + gameroom
Design of the Harbor House, a homestead for troubled youth in Portland, Oregon. The concept is based of a fully functional Cafe' and Sandwich shop in the front on the building. The youth stay for three months and receive free counseling, in exchange for working in the cafe' for part of the day. They receive free room and board as well as opportunities for recreation and wellness class. The idea that they stay and work and then reenter the world as more mature and skilled adults. Ready to become productive members of society upon exit. The building holds the cafe', offices and living quarters for the residents.

design concept: transformation of an outsider upon arrival.... youth becomes reunited to the flow path; to become one with society. The entry is a linear approach to the cafe', and as one moves deeper inside the space walls open up, what was known begins to break down and inspires change and adaption to occur to one who is open to allow the world to reenter... thus providing guidance and a second chance to the troubled youth who enter...

Perspective rendering studio project, to increase familiarity with markers and perspective drawing techniques. The use of color and detail to provide a rendered floor plan and perspective drawings. The professor gave me a small footprint floor plan and we were allowed to add one hundred and fifty square feet to the footprint. I decided to build up as well creating an additional level for an office area and study. It overlook the Living area, it is open to below to allow sufficient daylight to pass through the entire floor plan.
