Let‘s begin by first knowing the real definition of shame. This can be defined as a painful, social emotion which may result from the comparison of one‘s self state of being to the ideal social standards. Also it can be said to be that painful emotion which is caused by consciousness of perceived guilt, some shortcoming or impropriety. Shame is not to be confused with guilt; the latter is a painful feeling of regret and responsibility for one‘s actions. Shame is that acutely self conscious state in which a person imagines oneself in the eye of the other.
It should be noted that shame is a condition or state which can affect anyone but women tend to be affected more compared to their male counterparts. But with the right motivation this is a condition that can be dealt with before it takes its toll on a person. Basically shame in women stems from the society‘s expectation towards them. This ranges from society‘s perception of a woman‘s beauty, body size, achievement, success and also unfair comparison.
