You provide your own unique barcodes (usually GTIN = Global Trade Item Number) for the primary and secondary packaging. You place the barcodes on your artwork (labels, box labels, cartridge or foil printing, etc.) but also provides the barcodes that need to be placed by DL on the packaging, such as in foil packaging printing, box printing, artwork created by DL, etc. It is also possible to use the same barcode on both the primary and secondary packaging if desired.

For certain packaging (e.g., cartridge), you can opt for adhesive barcode labels:

• MOQ per label of 5.000 pieces with a one-time cliché cost of €30 per label

• Size of the barcode label: height 23 mm x width 51 mm

• Content of the barcode label: Product name, colour, content, barcode, label number

• Ink colour: black (on white label)

• The costs for non-acceptance amount to €10 per 1.000 pieces

QR CODE

A QR code must not be smaller than 17 x 17 mm, and a QR code with a very busy pattern (many black squares and dots) must not be smaller than 20 x 20 mm.

WHITE SPACE FOR BARCODE STICKERS

Provide a spacious, white area of 55 mm in height and 26 mm in width at the bottom right of the page layout for barcodes affixed during production (these measure 51 mm in height and 23 mm in width).

PRE-PRINTED BARCODE

The barcode and colour indication can also be pre-printed in the artwork of the cartridge. However, using multiple colours implies a large stock of empty cartridges. Due to the curvature of the cartridge, the barcode is always in a vertical orientation.

The barcode must not be smaller than SC0 (Size Code 0 = 0.82) and must be at least 30.5 mm by 21.48 mm.

FONT SIZE

Font size should be no smaller than 5 pt for positive text or 6 pt for negative text. For small negative text, lines, and elements, white ink as an additional colour will be required to ensure readability.

Bold negative text offers the best readability. CLP information respects the minimum font size as outlined in Chapter 3: Regulations

LINE THICKNESS

Line thickness should be no less than 0.4 pt for positive lines / 0.5 pt for negative lines. For negative lines, use white as an additional colour or increase the line thickness.

• Red Border: The red must be 100% yellow and 100% magenta in CMYK. In Pantone, PMS 186C can be used.

UFI CODE

• The UFI code (Unique Formula Identifier) is a unique identification code consisting of 16 characters (UFI: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx) that can be used in emergency calls to poison control centers. As of January 1, 2025, it is mandatory to add a UFI code to each product with a hazard symbol (for health and/or physical hazards). No UFI code is required for products with only an environmental hazard symbol.

• You can create a UFI code via the website https://ufi.echa.europa.eu/, requiring your company's VAT number and a self-determined formulation number. The UFI code must be registered with the poison control center of each country where the product is sold via the ECHA portal. This registration includes information about the product, its composition, hazard properties, and toxicological data. In this way, doctors at the poison control centers, who have access to this data, can provide the best assistance in case of accidents involving the hazardous product.

Total width 23 mm

16mm

The UFI code is clearly placed in uppercase next to the CLP data.

• You can carry out this registration themselves, but DL Chemicals can also do this for you. The cost for this service is €50 administration fee per product and the fees charged by the country of registration (for Belgium, this currently amounts to €200; for most other EU countries, it is free).

ADR

• Certain hazardous goods also fall under the ADR transport regulations (pan-European treaty for the transport of dangerous goods by road) because they pose a risk of fire, environmental damage, etc., during transport.

• To comply with the obligations under ADR regulations, specific labeling elements (such as hazard labels, UN numbers, and orientation arrows) are required in certain cases.

• Information on these packaging specifications is provided by Masterdata/Regulations.

VOC REGULATIONS

• For (adhesive) primers and coatings, it is mandatory to indicate the content of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and the limit value under the European VOC directive on the primary packaging. The VOC content is available in sections 9 and 15 of the safety data sheet.

• For example, reference is made to the label of the original product from DL Chemicals.

4. CERTIFICATION

CERTIFICATES

Emicode EC1+

• The EMICODE EC1+ certificate is a label that indicates that construction materials, such as adhesives and sealants, have very low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making them safe for indoor air quality.

• EC1+ is the highest class within this system, meaning that the product meets the strictest standards.

• If an EC1+ certificate exists for the DL product, an application can be made to GEV to extend the relevant product certificate to the private label product. Annual cost to be paid by you: €250.

• If no EC1+ certificate exists for the DL product, tests must be carried out, and an application submitted to the GEV authority. The cost structure, which depends on the necessary tests, report request, and certificate issuance, is determined case by case between DL and you as the private label client. An annual renewal fee is also required.

• The EMICODE guidelines do not specify fixed minimum dimensions for the EC1+ label on packaging, but general requirements regarding the readability and visibility of the label apply. Manufacturers should ensure that the EC1+ logo is proportionate to the packaging and large enough to be noticeable.

(French) VOC label

• The VOC label is specific to the French market and describes emissions of volatile compounds that are toxic when inhaled indoors.

• A+ represents very low emissions.

• If a VOC label exists for the DL product, it can be transferred to your private label name at no extra cost.

• The minimum dimensions of the logo are 15 x 30 mm. The additional French text under the logo must be legible.

SNJF

• The SNJF certificate is issued by the French Syndicat National des Joints et Façades and guarantees that sealing products meet strict technical standards for durability, weather resistance, and suitability for facade applications. It ensures the quality and performance of sealants in the construction industry.

• An application must be made for each product and colour to SNJF by submitting an admission file (dossier d'admission).

For a product and colour already certified under the name of DL Chemicals, the costs per product per submission in 2025 are:

- Initial admission (Admission initiale):

€2.878

- Additional admission (colour) (Admission complémentaire (teinte)): €160

- Annual renewal (Renouvellement annuel):

€1.227

- Five-year renewal (every 5 years) (Renouvellement quinquennal (tous les 5 ans)): €2.878

Prices are adjusted annually and can be consulted on the SNJF website.

• For a colour without SNJF certification in the DL range, there is an additional cost of approximately €1.000 due to testing and administrative costs.

• The minimum length of the logo is at least 12 mm.

Ianesco

• The IANESCO certificate is issued by the French laboratory IANESCO and confirms that a product is suitable for food contact under FDA regulations code CFR 21 § 177.2600 (e).

• An additional test is requested in your name, and the test report will also be issued in your name. The cost for this is around €300.

Other certificates: on request. Possibilities to be reviewed on an ad hoc basis. Costs related to certificates are the responsibility of the applicant/customer.

CE LABELLING

• The CE marking, through harmonized standards, confirms that a product complies with European requirements (Conformité Européenne). CE labelling is only required for sealants used in the construction sector.

• If a DL product is already CE-marked, you can adopt this CE marking free of charge, provided that a Letter of Engagement is signed, and you prepare your own Declaration of Performance (DoP).

• The Letter of Engagement states that the cartridge is exclusively filled with DL Chemicals’ product and that you are responsible for preparing your own Declaration of Performance (DoP), based on the DoP provided by DL Chemicals. You must make your DoP at least available to your customers via your website.

• You are required to maintain a dossier in case of inspection by a government agency. This dossier includes, besides the Letter of Engagement, the technical data sheet of the original product, the technical data sheet, and the DoP of the private label product.

• The CE logo is placed on the packaging according to a fixed format:

The DoP number is a reference number freely determined by you, which must be mentioned both in the CE logo on the packaging and on the DoP.

The CE logo must include an email address or a website where the DoP (Declaration of Performance) of the product can be accessed or requested.

UKCA LABELLING

• UKCA stands for UK Conformity Assessed and is a certification mark used for certain products marketed in Great Britain (England, Scotland, and Wales). It indicates that a product complies with UK regulations on safety, health, and environmental protection.

• It was introduced in 2021 following Brexit to replace the old CE marking (used in the EU). UKCA therefore replaces the CE marking for products sold in the United Kingdom. UKCA is only applicable in Great Britain, and not in Northern Ireland, where the CE marking is still required.

• It is allowed to create a single Declaration of Performance (DoP) document for both CE and UKCA labelling.

• The UKCA logo is placed on the packaging following the same pattern as the UKCA labelling:
