masters final project, madrid institution. university of navarre, advising professor luis tena location. plaza del callao, madrid, spain object. replacing ‘el corte inglés’ with the new headquarters for Madrid movies academy, film library and museum area. 7.000 sqm on built architecture description. the program is divided into three connected blocks, which decrease in height and break up with the linearity of the street. Taking into account the performance of the first cameras, ‘cámaras oscuras’, light enters the building through the skylights located on it roofs. The inner space looks at the city through floor to roof narrow openings which reach the full height of the facade, keeping twilight on the inside. Following the idea of walls as rooms inspired by louis kahn’s studies of the british castles, servant spaces are nestled into the thick party walls, making served spaces the heart of the project.

institution. university of navarre, advising professors jorge tárrago and herman hertzberger location. sluisbuurt, ámsterdam, netherlands object. designing a multidisciplinary school for sluisbuurt peninsula area. 5.000 sqm on built architecture description. sluisbuurt has a urban plan, but there is nothing built yet. Having this into account, the project turns inward upon itself, organizing the program around six cloisters raging in size and height.

institution. university of navarre, advising professors jorge tárrago and alberto veiga location. can ricart, barcelona, spain object. designing an artist residence next to existing can ricart’s factory (abandoned) area. 4.500 sqm on built architecture description. the project continues the urban trace of the factory and the streets nearby, connecting the new facilities to the existing building. The layout of the project generates an inner garden, with a closed view from the streets but opened for the city.

institution. university of navarre recognitions. graded with honours location. mendillorri, pamplona, navarra object. designing an indoor swimming pool for mendillorri’s neighborhood description. the project settles down on a steep slope, taking advantage of its potential to open up to the landscape. This characteristic is emphasized by a huge diagonal beam that allows to open both of its endings without structural elements on the edges.

institution. university of navarre recognitions. graded with honours location. san millán de la cogolla, la rioja object. designing a building hosting the sport facilities for the existing ‘frontón’ description. the project takes advantage of a non-constructed plot inserted in the urban core of the city, just behind the existing ‘frontón’, solving the problem of the difference in height between the street and the playing field. There is also a topography work, in order to create some natural stands for the viewers.

institution. university of navarre location. san ignazio, bilbao, vasque country object. designing a healthcare center for san ignazio’s neighborhood area. 2.000 sqm on built architecture description. the project settles down on a slight slope, following the geometry of an existing wall that cannot be teared down. The program is divided into two sides, pediatrics and general medicine, connected by an inner garden. Medical consulting rooms are grouped around courtyards, aiming to always maintain a contact with nature.
