PRIORITIZING MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WITH Dr. Akindele Kolade

Board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Akindele Kolade, MD has observed a lot in his 25+ years of years of experience; however, no one had plans for a global pandemic. Dr. Kolade treats many patients, including those struggling with addiction as he is certified in that area; however, he focuses on child and adolescent psychiatry.

“It was very important to me to find a way to continue to see these families without having to make a trip to my office during Covid.” He says. Although he still sees his patients in his office, he finds that this system he has developed over the past years and more so during the past year and a half could possibly help his patients more effectively. “I am calling my patients in their place of comfort be it work or in their homes now. This allows me to see how they are living which helps me understand them more.” Kolade says.

Dr. Kolade has dedicated his life to mental health awareness, and because he knows how powerful the media can be he founded ProAscella Productions and Films. A Movie producer and an actor in his debut movie “Loving Daniella”, Dr. Kolade has been able to reach a larger audience while bringing light to mental health in Africa. Dr. Kolade is passionate about promoting and encouraging humanizing mental health both here in American and in Africa and hopes that ProAscella films can help bring awareness in future with the use of arts to share people and hope to fulfill their dreams as well.

When it comes to services her patients in the Summerlin and greater Las Vegas Region, Dr. Amel Youssef says the sense of community is undeniably the best part of her job. This passion for community extends from specialized care covering comprehensive optometry needs to her philanthropic involvement giving back.

“I love seeing return patients come back over the years, establishing those deep-rooted connections and those trusting her as their source of optimal optometry care,” Youssef says.

Dr. Youssef spent years in New York for her professional Education before relocating to Las Vegas. Her beautiful flagship optometry office, VISION By Amel, located in Downtown Summerlin for the past six years. Her practice covers a comprehensive array of eye care and concerns, including eye exams on-site, glasses, contacts, Lasik Consultations, cataracts, dry eye, and pediatric care. Two of Dr. Youssef’s favorite state-of-the-art cuttingedge offerings her office provides patients are a specialized Vision Simulator machine, as well as an on-site lab that can provide patients with eyeglasses in the little as twenty minutes.

As far as giving back, she additionally cites her involvement with Olive Crest, a nonprofit providing funds and resources for underserved youth in the community, such as eye exams for foster teens.

Lastly, when asked Dr. Youssef, what is her favorite way to unwind? She says, “Traveling to Cairo and New York! I find the ease of travel from Las Vegas refreshing.” Yousseff also loves hiking, hockey games, and shopping fine dining the city offers.
