Academy For the Intellectually Gifted The students are offered a differentiated, accelerated, and enriched program of instruction. Challenging projects engage students in problem solving activities to develop higher-­‐level thinking and creative critical analysis skills.

Community School District 30 Gifted and Talented Program Philosophy The mission of the Community School District 30 Gifted and Talented program is to provide children with a “world class” education. The program was created to meet the unique needs of community children who have met the criteria for giftedness. These are children who are creative thinkers and problem solvers. The educational program is designed to support and enhance their abilities. They are provided with a differentiated curriculum which is advanced, enriched, and designed to challenge their critical, creative, and productive thinking processes. Admission to the program is based on a comprehensive screening process. Students must continue to demonstrate high standards both academically and socially to maintain eligibility for the program.

School Mission Statement Through a collaborative school community, we will provide excellent standards-­‐driven curricula to all students. Students will achieve their full scholastic and social potential to become life long learners and productive citizens. Magnet Mission Statement The mission of PS 122, The Core Knowledge Magnet School, is to provide our students with an enhanced global awareness of an evolving world. The program, using a sequential course of study, links Social Studies throughout the curriculum using literature-­‐based resources and technology. This will provide students with the solid foundation they require to be successful members of our society. What Is Core Knowledge? Core Knowledge is a philosophy that schools need a shared core curriculum in order to establish strong foundations of knowledge, grade by grade.

National Blue Ribbon School Our school is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for achieving superior standards of academic excellence.

Our community school serves students in general education, English language learners, students with special needs, and gifted and talented programs. There is a strong interdisciplinary link between the common core standards, the arts, and technology.
