Some benefits of choosing cupcakes are: creative presentation options, the ease of serving your guests (eliminating cutting fees!), the ability to incorporate several different flavors to suit your guests’ preferences, easier transportation, and of course – depending on the level of detail going into and on top of each little treat – lower cost.

Color is the Finishing Touch With its ability to evoke emotion and deeply inspire, color is a central element of any wedding. Whether you choose one shade or a sweeping palette, color is the finishing touch that makes your wedding your own. Along with color comes flower choice. Depending on the color theme of your wedding do some research on which flowers are available in your hues and set your mind in motion — after all, roses are always nice, but think about adding dimension to your bouquets with different species of flowers.

Destination Honeymoon: Exotic, Affordable Bali An Indonesian island in Southeast Asia, Bali is the perfect exotic and budget-friendly honeymoon destination. With its tranquil green mountains and hillsides, crisp coastlines, sensuous beaches, and flourishing rice terraces, the Indonesian island of Bali can provide a place for you and your love to explore married life. Compared to most other popular tourist destinations, the dollar goes further in Bali, which will give you more bang for your buck. From its peaceful villas to its dazzling performing arts, enjoy your stay on the divine island of Bali!

24 | WEDDING STYLE MAGAZINE | ISSUE # 15

Where to Stay After arriving at the biggest airport in Bali, Ngurah Rai International Airport in Tuban, take a taxi to your wonderful villa or luxurious hotel. It’s only an $8 pre-paid taxi ride from the airport to the chic city of Seminyak, where you’ll relish in the delights of the Uma Sapna private villas. Boasting both an indoor and outdoor pool, and close to the coveted Legian Beach, this four-star resort is where you can have a high-class honeymoon, without the hefty price tag. The rooms have balconies overlooking the lush landscape of Bali, jetted bathtubs, and spacious kitchens. Uma Sapna is known for its fabulous service and superb accommodations, which start at only $124 a night, and offer a complimentary breakfast and restaurant on site.

Where to Dine Recognized as Travel & Leisure magazine’s “Best Island of 2010,” you and your beloved will not have trouble finding an impeccable restaurant. Overlooking the coastline, and voted “the most romantic restaurant in Bali” by tripadvisor. com, BREEZE at The Samaya Bali is the perfect restaurant for honeymoon ambiance. About $25 a meal, the seafood dishes at BREEZE are a reasonable splurge.

Where to Explore Share a spiritual day with your love by traveling to the historic and serene temples of Bali. With at least three temples in every city, the temples are an inexpensive (there is a small fee for the larger temples) and fun way to explore the heart of Bali’s culture. With their signature tiered, blackthatched roofs, the temples are a beautiful destination that you cannot afford to miss! Looking to soak up some sun? Enjoy the many captivating waterfronts that Bali has to offer. Thanks to the island’s volcanic nature, Bali is known for its alluring black sandy beaches, and is the perfect romantic outdoor setting for cozying up next to your honey. If you’re up for an adventure, try one of Bali’s most popular water sports: surfing!

Transportation As most city streets in Bali are narrow and not pedestrianfriendly, feel free to call up a metered taxi for $0.60 (for the first 1.5 miles) and $0.60 every half mile thereafter. Another option is to look for reasonably priced shuttle buses advertised in the city for transportation to and from major cities.

The Wedding Planner: Google Your Big Day By C. Scott Wyatt Great wedding planners help with everything, and they know sharing via the Web is as much a part of the wedding process as sending thank you notes. So where do you search for a wedding planner with Web savvy? You Google it! Skip the Google search for a wedding planner … now you can use Google as your planner. In early 2011, Google joined with Michelle Rago, a respected New York event planner, and launched “Google Weddings,” a site dedicated to helping couples plan the big event. Google Weddings can be accessed at www.google.com/weddings. The Google Weddings site is organized in order of activity: ANNOUNCE your engagement and wedding date via Google Sites ORDER custom announcement cards from Picnik PLAN the wedding details with Google Docs and SHARE photos of your special day online via Picasa. Google Weddings brings together applications like Picasa photo albums, Google Docs, and the Picnik custom photo service in one convenient place.

CREATE A WEBSITE. Google Sites is a free website creation tool. Google Weddings matches the design of your wedding website to print announcement designs. Once you select a theme for your wedding website, you preview the design before selecting it. The process is a little complex, but it is also free. The resulting website is beautiful and easy to update with content from your earliest announcement to the honeymoon photos. ORDER FORMAL ANNOUNCEMENTS. Google Weddings guides you from website creation to formal announcement design. By placing these together, Google helps you maintain a consistent wedding theme. Printed announcements are prepared using the Picnik service. Announcements can be printed at home, however, printing them professionally gives couples the polished look and feel they want for their special memories. Prices vary for ordering professional prints based on the paper, finish, and quantity ordered. PLAN THE BIG DAY. For the actual planning of the big event, Google Weddings offers specialized templates designed for Google Docs by Style Me Pretty bridal fashions and Michelle Rago. When you select the “Plan” option from Google Weddings, you are offered the following tools: wedding planner, to-do list, address book, guest list, budget planner, seating chart, reception menu, and music list. If you have never used Google Docs before, don’t worry because the applications are similar to Microsoft Office products. What makes Google Docs wonderful is that you can share documents with anyone. The “Share” option allows you to specify people allowed to see and edit documents. SHARE THE PHOTOS. Another great Google service, Picasa offers more than uploading photos to the Web. The Picasa software for Windows and OS X is similar to popular photo organizing programs like iPhoto and EasyShare. The photo albums you create in Picasa are shared online, or stored as an album on your computer. Because Google Sites can access your Picasa albums, you can use Picasa to expand your wedding website to include photos from your rehearsal, wedding, reception and honeymoon.

Simple Steps to Sketching Out Your Wedding Budget By Chandra Orr Unless money is falling from the sky right into your pocketbook, do not use your wedding as an excuse to accumulate a mountain of debt that could tragically help end the reason you are spending it in the first place – to be married to the one you love. In the world of weddings, your budget is your most critical tool. It is your wedding blueprint and will determine the rest of your planning. Sit down with your fiancé and establish a realistic budget. Be sensible about what you actually need versus what you want. Whether you have $5,000 or $50,000 to spend, listed are suggested percentages for allocating your budget to cover all costs of your wedding. Of course, the percentages can be changed to fit what’s important to you, as long as they all add up to 100 percent.
