Jessica and James, who stayed in the Dublin area 11 days, answered questions about the long-distance planning for their 10/10 wedding. Why a travel agent: “It was nice to know someone would be there to fix any hiccups – even though there weren’t any,” Jessica said. Almost all 42 guests came from St. Louis or Kansas City. The maid of honor booked the last leg of her trip from Hawaii to Dublin to fly with the newlyweds-to-be. Style of wedding: “We wanted it classic. Having only a maid of honor and best man allowed us to give the best man his tux, shoes, whole outfit for a match. The maid of honor, a girlfriend, picked her own dress in black. We gifted her all the hair and makeup preparation.” Real marriage: “The United States recognizes an Irish wedding license. On our single trip to Ireland a year in advance, we met with the registrar in Dublin to set everything up so it would work in County Meath. We only needed birth certificates sealed by Missouri and passports, no blood tests. A religious ceremony or previous marriage requires a lot more paperwork.”

Cotton Candy Cocktails Sweet fluff is a big hit with all ages. The trick for delivery is to keep cotton candy fresh from the package out of the liquid so it doesn’t – pouf! – disappear. Filling a champagne glass two-thirds full helps avoid touching the two ingredients. The candy’s color can coordinate with wedding decorations. For a Cotton Candy Martini, combine 4 cups grape juice and, if desired, 6 ounces vodka in vanilla or another flavor. For instant magic, simply pour liquid of choice over cotton candy. Chocolate Delight A martini with chocolate draws obvious acclaim. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, vigorously shake together vodka, crème de cacao, white chocolate liqueur and half-and-half. Rose of the Hill by Favazza’s showcases Italian hospitality For a classic taste of Italy in St. Louis, Favazza’s Restaurant romances brides and grooms and their guests at its elegant restaurant and full-service Rose of the Hill banquet facility, each located at the gateway to this historic section of the city. After the proposal, make wedding plans at an intimate table on the restaurant’s garden patio. Greet wedding party and out-of-towners after the wedding rehearsal on that same patio or in one of five private rooms. From near or far, guests will delight in the family food and personal service fine-tuned by decades of experience. On the big day, the single-event facility, named “Rose” for the favorite flower of the Favazza family’s mother, becomes the backdrop for as many as 350 people. Often called “popular gourmet,” fabulous food like Sicilian Chicken, Steak Mudega and Italian Roast Beef is served sit-down family style or buffet. Specialty pasta dishes and fresh vegetables appeal to all tastes. A 35-foot dark wood bar separate from the dining and dancing area offers hospitality. Staff expects to provide real china, linens, glasses and silverware, as well as decorate and check coats. After the bride and groom ceremonially cut the cake, it is sliced and served. Blazing Farewell Tayler Marx and Jeff McCurdy scored big smiles as they set off after their wedding reception on Sept. 2, 2017, at Old Warson Country Club.
