The Bill regulates DNA testing for the identification of persons under the Indian Penal Code, 1860, the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971 and the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. With the growth in the technology, DNA profiling is "an accurate and well established scientific technique," says the Law Commission report that has proposed the new draft.
