In addition to intensive use in criminal cases such as corroborative evidence and the identification of Disaster Victim Identification (IAV), the technology is also used in civil matters such as the determination of kinship and the establishment of biological affiliation. With the advent of new methods of profiling and analysis, the use of DNA in various other fields will only grow over time. The Bill regulates DNA testing for the identification of persons under the Indian Penal Code, 1860, the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, the Medical Termination of Pregnancy Act, 1971 and the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. With the growth in the technology, DNA profiling is "an accurate and well established scientific technique," says the Law Commission report that has proposed the new draft.
