Hunters And Shooters Often Have Specific Requirements Every hunter and shooting enthusiast has their preference for the rifle or shotgun they use when they take to the field of the shooting range. Such preference is often instilled in the individual because of experiences or because of someone such as a hunter or shooter you admire or like, someone who may be using a specific brand, whether that is a Browning, or a Benelli or Ruger, or a Weatherby, or a Marlin for that matter. Accuracy is a must for the shooter or the hunter, and to this end, a telescopic sight –often referred to as the scope for short –is affixed on top of the rifle to aid the shooter’s accuracy when they fire. This is done to be sure the rifle owner feels confident that it will help them achieve accuracy when they fire at a target, be that a stationary target at the range or a moving target such as a white-tailed deer, for example. Therefore hunters and competition shooters make sure that they get a good, solid scope when they acquire their rifles. It shows, therefore, that it is about more than acquiring a top-class rifle: you need a good scope to go with it so you are in the best position to hit the target. Without a good scope, chances are you place yourself on a hit-and-miss trajectory. The scope offers you maximum accuracy when you aim and must, therefore, be made by a trusted manufacturer whose scopes are indeed known to aid the hunter’s efforts in being accurate. This is the reason why buyers of rifles make sure they acquire a good scope from a leading manufacturer or supplier, one mentioned for those qualities that enhance the experience for the shooter. The scope has to be mounted on top of the rifle, and the hunter or shooter may choose to buy a rifle with the scope already mounted. However, many prefer to do this themselves. The scope mount system (for the scope to be attached to) consists of a base part that goes directly on top of the rifle with rings attached thereto. There is normally a choice for the buyer in terms of what system they prefer, i.e., a 1-piece or 2-piece ring system. This often has to do with personal choice. For example, some shooters feel that a 1-piece is a more rugged system that will support the rigidity of the scope-to-receiver system, for example, and therefore they mount a 1-ring option on their rifle. Some, again, feel that they prefer a 2-piece base mounting system because it is, for them, less cumbersome when loading and unloading their rifle, as well as when they clean them. In this regard features such as being lightweight and strong are often mentioned, and a material such as billet aluminum is often preferred when these scope mounting systems are made. The material these are made of also plays a part: aluminum seems to be a popular choice

with most; therefore suppliers or dealers offering this option – also online services – are most likely busier than those that offer them in, say, steel. Very often this boils down to preference and experience. That is the reason that leading suppliers or dealers will make sure they offer both options, the 1-and 2-piece mounting system to ensure their buyers are offered the choice they feel most comfortable with when they mount their scope. You must trust the supplier with the best base and rings for your scope to be mounted on. Really good manufacturers and dealers, therefore, make sure that they offer only quality bases and rings to the buyers to ensure they never compromise a good name. Buyers have different options, therefore, whether they want to buy a 1- or 2-piece mounting system, and they have a choice regarding the supplier or dealer they acquire their system from. What is important, though, is to always be sure you buy and mount a quality system of base and rings, and not be lured into buying extraordinarily cheap systems. Therefore the buyer should look at the profile of the dealer, and not only at price. Good suppliers concentrate on quality which, sometimes, may mean having to pay slightly more than you would for a cheaper product.
