I am doing this as a tribute to my mother, Bessie Mae, and my Dad, Irvin Conley. These were in my estimation the best parents anyone could hope to have as a child. They were warm, caring people who would do anything for me. My mother and father both told me everyday that they loved me and only wanted the best for me. There were times when I was stranded. I didn’t think about who to call. I knew that if I called my Dad, he’d come. There was never a question because he was a best friend. Someone you could count on. So I’m saying, this is a great tribute to both my wonderful parents. I loved them and I’ll always love them.

Chapter 2
The Doctor
Dr. Carney loved the out of doors. He loved helping people, and he loved animals. He had five dogs, and loved every creature, even spiders. He was a nice man. 10
Jack the dog was running around the house, and Michelle was chasing him. Jack was running fast. Michelle was running as hard as she could. Then she ran into the living room. The living room floor was made of hardwood. There was a rug on the hardwood floor. As she tried to reach down and grab Jack, she slipped and fell. She hit her head, right hip, right leg, and right arm on the hardwood floor. It hurt. She cried. 11
Her dad ran to her. He said, “Are you okay Michelle?” She kept crying. He said, “Let’s put some ice on that and see if it feels better later baby.” So he took her to the kitchen and put an ice bag on her owie. She stopped crying, but was hurt really bad. The next day Michelle was very sore. She told her mom that her neck, back, and legs all hurt. Her mother said, “Honey if you still hurt tomorrow we’re going to take you to the doctor.” When Michelle woke up, she still hurt. 12
She hurt everywhere. She ran into the kitchen and screamed, “Mommy, my head hurts. My head hurts. Can’t you make the pain stop?” Her mother looked at her and said, “Michelle, we’re going to the doctor. You go get dressed right now.” So Michelle ran into her bedroom and put on her best dress and shoes. Brushed her teeth. And then told her mother, “Okay Mom, I’m ready to go to the doctor. I’m ready.” So they jumped in the car, and away they went. When they got to the office, the doctor made them wait two hours. 13
Michelle was really getting tired after waiting. When the doctor came in the room he said, “Hi Michelle. What’s the problem today?” Michelle’s mother looked at him and said, “Doc, she had a bad fall. We put ice on the owie, but she has a headache, and she hurts all over.” The doctor checked her pulse, blood pressure, and looked into her eyes. He told Michelle’s mother, “Michelle has a minor concussion. Take her home, give her some baby aspirin and call me in three or four days if she’s not better.” Then he left. When they got home, Michelle’s dad asked Michelle, “Well baby, how did it go? What did the doctor say?” 14
Michelle looked at her dad and said, “Daddy, he didn’t do anything to help my pain. I still hurt.” So he looked at his wife and said, “I want you to take Michelle to Dr. Carney tomorrow. He’ll check her out, and do what’s necessary. I’m just glad he’ll be there.”
15
When Michelle’s mother called Dr. Carney’s office, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Michelle was scheduled for the same day. When Michelle came in she was immediately taken to the room. Within 5 minutes Michelle was seeing Dr. Carney. He came in, asked her a few questions, took her temperature, blood pressure, and reflexes. When he asked her how bad she hurt, Michelle said she was hurting really bad. So he checked her neck, back, and found three areas that were misaligned.
16
He laid her on the table, lightly applied a specific amount of pressure to those specific areas, and then asked her to sit up. Dr. Carney rechecked her movement in her neck and back. She was better. They said ‘goodbye’ and left his office. The next day when Michelle got out of bed, she felt great. When she ate her cereal her mother asked her, “Michelle. How do you feel today? Are you still hurting baby?” Michelle said, “No Mom. I feel great. I love Dr. Carney.” They both laughed.
17
Michelle ate her cereal and put on her back pack and headed to the bus stop. Jack was happy, Michelle was happy, her sister and brother were happy and Dr. Carney was happy. This was a happy ending story. If you want to be healthy, make sure you’re checked by Dr. Carney. He loves kids, but he takes care of all kinds of people. Young and old.
