Ancient Gold Artifacts Found in Bulgaria
Archaeologists from Bulgaria dig up ancient gold artifacts consisting of bracelet with snake head ornament. In addition, the archaeologists also found tiara (crown) with animals pattern and a piece of horse head artifact in the Thracian tomb in northern Bulgaria. Reported by Reuters on Friday (11/09/2012), gold artifact is believed to have existed since the end of the fourth century or beginning of the third century BC. This relic was found in 150 biggest ancient Thracian tribe tombs , Getae or Dakia / Trakia peoples have ever inhabit the southern region of Lower Danube, now northern Bulgaria. The findings also included a gold ring, 44 applications from female figures and 100 gold buttons. “This is an amazing discovery of the Getae’s heyday,” said Diana Gergova, head of the team of archaeologists at the site Getic ancient burial complex, near the village of Sveshtari, 400 miles northeast of Sofia. “From what we have seen until now, this tomb can be connected to the first ruler Getic, Cothelas,” she explained. One of the tomb there, known as the Tomb of Sveshtari included in the UN World Heritage List and the cultural agency, UNESCO. Thracian tribe, ruled by the powerful warrior aristocracy and had golden treasure. They once inhabited the area that extends in modern Romania and Bulgaria, north Greece and Turkey in the 4000 years BC. Thracian tribe also lived on the banks of the Greek and Roman civilizations.
