Processing The Metal Artwork: Without giving too many secrets away, once the initial artwork is done, the art file has to go through several processes to make it into a readable file for the Plasma cutting program. It’s like following the dots.

We place a sheet of 2mm steel on the Plasma table, decide what to cut that from this sheet of metal and program the Plasma Table for the cutting sequence.

Each Dog head takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to cut out. Once this has been completed the Dog head is hand cleaned with a buffing disc to take off any slag (molten metal around the cuts). This can take another 10 mins.

When the piece is ready it’s washed with a cleaning solution to take off any oils and dirt on the metal and allowed to dry.

It is now ready to be powder coated (a technique, unlike liquid paint). It is applied using a powder to an electrified piece of steel and cured in an oven at 200 degrees for approximately 20mins and left to cool. The powder coated finish is extremely strong and durable.

Each Dog head takes nearly an hour from start to finish and is made with love, then off to be sold. Black Powdercoat RRP $60-00 Visit us at: www.topdogplasma.com.au Facebook: https://facebook.com/topdogplasma
