Other Relevant Information:

The articles of Association states that the Board of Directors has: “the complete control and management of RNSWCC.”

That control needs to be made by people who will vote according to their conscience, but also by people who ‘care‘ - care about the members; the breeds; the clubs; the future of pedigree dogs and the ‘hobby’ we know to be a most vital, major part of our lives.

I am concerned at falling numbers of exhibitors, the number of shows, Government regulation/s, breed standards, disunity across State regulations/lack of uniformity across country.

I am running because I do care. The Board of Directors that gets elected to control depends on you and your vote.

Other Relevant Information:

I was given my first Schnauzer in 1974. This event precipitated a strong love of this beautiful breed and lifelong associations shared within our dog world. I have found the dog world I enjoy is a wonderful place, albeit not without issues and problems. It does not discriminate, it allows people of all ages and abilities to partake in dog sports, including Conformation, Obedience, Agility, Herding, Lure Coursing and the newly introduced Tricks competitions. It supports a strong Rescue effort through its clubs and membership.

There are also many and varied activities, occupations and businesses that lend support to our dog world. It is a rich network of people and dogs. We enjoy the unique ability to share friendships and associations with many people from many places locally, interstate and internationally, all through the mutual love of our beloved canine companions. If my application to the Board of DOGS NSW is successful, I will bring a fresh set of eyes, enthusiasm and a strong desire to promote our organisation with positivity to all areas of the public through hard work and effort. I believe in inclusive - not exclusive.

It will be my goal to engage and grow our membership by showcasing our diverse dog breeds and understand the privilege of owning and participating in our many and varied breed clubs and activities.

I believe we should engage the public in our journey to reconnect and build our dog sport activities and to welcome and mentor newcomers with warmth, guidance and friendship.

Clearly we need to engage our young people across the broad spectrum of our sport. We need to encourage their participation in joining club committees and ensure we engage, listen and lend support to their ideas and needs.

The Dog World gives us the oportunity to experience the bond and love we have for our dogs and feel what it is to be loved by a dog.

I have been a member of various committees for DOGS NSW with emphasis on government legislation and how it affects dog owners and breeders. I believe it is most important if dog owners and breeders of DOGS NSW are to move forward, we must have a say in what governments decide: what dog owners and breeders can or cannot do.

The recovery from COVID-19 will need to be managed carefully if our hobby is to come back in a strong position in order to regain our premier position in the dog world.
