GROUP OVERVIEW
OUR BUSINESS LOCAL RESOURCES
Hello everyone,
The period since our IPO on the New York Stock Exchange and the birth of Dole plc in July 2021 has been an exciting and dynamic time. Bringing together two giants of the fresh produce sector was always going to entail fundamental change. As always, together, we have risen to the challenge.
Three years on, this resource pack has been developed to provide an overview of the new Dole plc- to make sure that amidst the pace of progress, we collectively take a moment to reflect on and understand this business that we are building. Covering structure, operations- both local and global, our strengths and our responsibilities, it is intended as a simple, accessible guide to what makes us what we are today.
Inevitably this overview represents only a snapshot of our company at a single moment in time. Our business will continue to evolve in the months and years ahead and each and every one of you will be important contributors to that change. But for now I hope this pack serves, not only as a means to understanding and navigating our organisation, but also as a useful resource in helping each of you in sharing our story with other stakeholders across the supply chain. After all, ours is a great story to be able to tell.

ABOUT THIS GUIDE
OVERVIEW
INDUSTRY
Healthy Planet. Healthy you.
We are privileged in Dole to market products widely accepted to be the most nutritious of foods with amongst the lowest environmental footprints of all the major food groups. That our primary function is the marketing of produce, the health promoting properties and environmental credentials of which have been firmly and definitively
established, is something about which we can all be justifiably proud. Few industries, surely can contend with such certainty that their core business - in this instance driving fresh fruit and vegetable consumption, makes so positive a contribution to public diet and general well-being. Ours is an industry of worth.

Our Stakeholders
From farm to fork, the fresh produce supply chain is one populated by a particularly complicated set of stakeholders, a set often motivated by complicated interests, priorities and agenda. In Dole, our understanding of the nature of our responsibilities to each of these stakeholders is unambiguous. In the first instance, as a customer orientated organisation, the delivery of premium quality, safe, traceable produce to the consumer and value to our partners in trade must always remain a priority for us. Meeting and exceeding customer expectations is what we do. As a Public Limited Company, we are mindful, always of the expectations of shareholders; our owners, of Governmental legislators and NGO’s with respect to conducting our business in accordance with best corporate practices and of our responsibility to deliver equitable returns across the supply chain. We recognise also, though the responsibilities inherent in the pursuit of this goal, most notably to the emerging and developing nations from which we source, and more specifically to our partners in production- the local and global growers who supply us. Recognising as we do, our own people as our competitive advantage we are committed to being an ‘Employer of Choice’ at production and in the marketplace and to meeting wider social obligations to the communities in which we grow and trade.

CORPORATE STRUCTURE
SUPPLY CHAIN FARM TO FORK
In fresh produce, control and influence of the supply chain is highly valued by trade customers, but also consumers who appreciate when produce comes ‘straight from the farm.’ Vertical Integration (exerting control back across the supply chain) has implications in terms of a business’ capacity to ensure best agronomic, logistical and sustainable practices from farm to fork. In Dole, by virtue of our extensive own production, our enduring long-term relationships with many of the world’s most accomplished growers and our extensive on-the-ground operations across key markets, we have the capacity to offer the most direct route to market for our fresh produce- closing the gap between the grower and the consumer and delivering on our promise of ‘quality, quality, quality’.
This influence across the supply chain allows us to bring a degree of customisation to our produce and services not possible otherwise, whether that be in New Product Development at production or innovative packaging the marketplace.
SUPPLY CHAIN FLEXIBILITY
OWN PRODUCTION
In Dole we have been growing fresh produce for 170 years. With extensive own production throughout Central and South America, South Africa and beyond we are recognized across our industry as a world class grower of bananas, pineapples and assorted diversified produce. Our expertise in the production brings commercial, agronomic and environmental efficiencies to the supply chain but most importantly offers that always paramount assurance of quality to our customers.
3rd PARTY PRODUCERS LOCAL PRODUCERS
Dole’s extensive product offering includes everything from everyday family favourites to the truly exotic, extending across some 300 lines. Inevitably the breath of this range requires that we work with trusted third party global suppliers to deliver on our promise of 52 week supply. Over 170 years of trading we have established constructive, enduring partnerships with leading growers from the worlds most fertile growing regions. Our credentials, capacities and competencies as a primary producer ourselves and our acquired marketplace expertise and experience are hugely important in this respect as we work hand in glove with our partners to bring to market exceptional fresh produce from across the globe.
In many of our markets across the world, extensive ranges of locally grown fresh produce complement the wider range of imported fresh fruits and vegetables available all year round on the retail shelf.
In Dole, we are deeply committed to supporting local growers in the markets in which we operate. In many instances, we are a critically important commercial partner to smaller local growers offering financial, technical, agronomic, legal, commercial, marketing and sustainability related support to our local partners in production, consolidating supply and delivering value added services. It allows us to be ‘local at heart, global by nature - offering produce from around the corner and across the world.
BRAND
That sensation. You know the one. That explosion of taste, that rush of flavour. That’s what we here in Dole are all about. It’s the pleasure that comes from binging on those berries positively bursting with juice, from munching on that mango, ripened to perfection. It’s that beautiful banana, that perfect pineapple, that amazing avocado, that gorgeous grape. It’s that zesty kick from the scintillating, succulent citrus, extra zing infused by the Mediterranean Sun. It’s the unmistakable freshness and flavour of tasty tomatoes grown just up the road. There’s nothing like it. In Dole, we’re all about taste. Don’t get us wrong. We’re so incredibly proud to grow and distribute amongst the healthiest and most nutritious of foods. We know too, we’re privileged to be marketing produce with amongst the lowest environmental footprints of all the major food groups. And since the very beginning, we have been wholeheartedly dedicated to ‘Quality, Quality, Quality.’ But still. The taste. Because in Dole, we believe consumers are entitled to have it all - produce grown to the highest agronomic and sustainable standards, brought to market in pristine condition, good to go, ready to eat and tasting sublime. It’s what we do.
BRAND OUR
The DOLE brand is nothing less than iconic. The world’s most recognised fresh produce brand across the America’s, much of Europe and around the world it is a household name - and with good reason. When James Dole planted his first Pineapples in Hawaii in 1901, he was determined that ‘Quality, Quality, Quality’ would be the point of difference that would set his produce apart- and so it has been every since. Successive generations have associated DOLE branded bananas and pineapples with an uncompromising commitment to best practices from farm to fork. Today the DOLE brand is applied to an ever wider range of fresh fruits and vegetables in new and existing markets- opening up new exciting opportunities in the marketplace. With this opportunity comes responsibility, of course. As Dole employees, we are all custodians of the brand and its heritage, a role that brings with it the imperative to ensure that in everything we do, we honour to the promise and heritage inherent in our famous brand.

Making the world a healthier place
The DOLE® brand is, of course, synonymous with bananas and pineapples the world over. A market leader in Organic bananas and pineapples in North America, across Dole plc the overall volumes sales of the two lines accounts for nearly half of our overall volume sales. The remaining 50% of our volume turnover is derived from non-banana and pineapple products, which we classify as ’Diversified Produce.’ This includes a broad array of produce categories including Top Fruit, Berries, Cherries, Stone Fruit, Soft Fruit, Grapes, Exotics and a wide portfolio of salad and vegetable lines. Our products are sourced from our own production and that of trusted third party growers, both local and global.
