The project consisted of the architecture and interior design of the new headquarters of Skretting in Guayaquil. The client considered the Auditory as the main room, due to the multiple courses and seminaries that the company does to its employees.

The materials we chose were wood and steal. Led lighting was incorporated in the design to create numerous lighting effects, which help to break up the expansive volume of the room.

In 2019, Uber moved and opened their first headquarters in Guayaquil - Ecuador to establish a global presence, connect people and cultures, and understand the everevolving markets around them.

Steel is featured prevalently in the space - from the open ceiling design to the custom furniture pieces.

The waiting room seating is custom-made; our approach was to make a dynamic environment.

GUAYAQUIL’S MUNICIPAL LIBRARY EXPANSION & RENOVATION

PART I

Location: Guayaquil, Ecuador Spring 2019

Guayaquil’s Municipal Library Expansion & Renovation is a thesis project that seeks to bring herigate buildings back to life.

The current Municipal Library is perfectly located in the heart of the city, but in the last few years it is lacking space to store its books; that’s why we focused on its renovation and extension in order to double the existing size of the Museum while providing expanded collection storage and lecture hall for Museum and community use.

The first phase of the project consists of the design and implantation of the new library along the Francisco de Orellana Avenue, a major road in Guayaquil.

This library design depicts a contemporary and parametric shape in order to attract a younger audience, and become an iconic building in the city.

The facade is inspired by the pleaded skirts of the 1920’s typical costumes. To create this effect, the outer curtain wall of the facade is composed of vertical metallic structures which allow this form to be produced.

The undulating facade rises on the main entraces and corners. The building is surrounded by public green spaces for people to gather and enjoy.

The existing structure will be renovated to use it as “a historical library and museum for the use and benefit of the public.”

Those areas that are currently being used to store books, will be opened to create more lecture rooms, and the interior patio will be recovered to exhibit sculptures.

Currently, the library does not meet the general accessibility requirements, since the main entrance is through multiple stairs. The proposed intervention includes ramps and elevators in order to make the building accessible for all the visitors.

MIXED – USE DEVELOPMENT IN SANTA ANA PORT

Location: Guayaquil, Ecuador Fall 2018

Located in Santa Ana Port, a new bohemian mixed - used area in Guayaquil, this project is a residential and commercial building owning a major focus on being sold out for studios and small family apartments.

The building has four storeys, and its levels are designed to reduce the mass, making it more dynamic and integrating with the context, while providing terraces with unrivalled views over the Guayas river, Santa Ana Hill and Numa Pompilio Llona Street.

SOCIAL HOUSING DEVELOPMENT IN MONTE SINAI

Location: Guayaquil, Ecuador Winter 2017

The houses are proposed to be built in a peripheral urbanization in Guayaquil called Monte Sinai, which has approximately 456 lots which are mostly of 90.00 sqm.

One of the features and benefits of the location is that the set is near to a municipal linear park, so the houses are designed to take these green areas as an advantage. There are two types of units:

- Unit 1: 8.00m x 11.00 m - Unit 2: 5.00m x 14.00 m

Unit 1: These units are designed to house 4-person single families into one single storey. It includes 3 bedrooms, an small frontal garden, kitchen and dining-living room.

SINGLE - FAMILY HOUSE

Location: Samborondon, Ecuador Summer 2016

From a functional point of view the area of the site imposed a narrow development of the structure. The house is designed for a young family of four, and is organized into a two-storey residence. The general principle in arranging the interior spaces was to visually connect them and to keep an easy access between adjacent rooms. All the rooms are surrounded by green spaces and interior patios.

Brickell

The interior design proposal consisted of remodeling the master bedroom and the living room. Choosing sophisticated light neutral color palette, and materials like metal and marble, a perfect modern balance was created so the spaces seemed wider and cozy.

Curved furniture was selected for the living room, the tones used were beige shades and bronze stainless steel. On the other hand, eclectic furniture was selected for the master bedroom, with light touched of beige fabric and bronze stainless steel on the bench and ceiling chandelier.

Bilmore BBQ Area - Architecture + Interior Design Proposal

An apartment development required an interior design of their Social BBQ common area. For the structure, the materials chosen were steel, wood slats and glass; these created a modern jewel box experience; these roof slats block the heat of the sun but still allow light to move through. Lounge, dining and cooking areas were included so families living in the apartments could spend time together without leaving the facilities. The furniture selected included aluminum, wood details and outdoor fabric. All the decoration accessories needed to be selected carefully to create the right balance: planters, books, pots, paintings.

The master bedroom had dark accessories and furniture; in order to keep a balance, we designed a TV Unit and a desk unit using a dark and pine wood color scheme. The contrast between these colors, made the bedroom more luxurious.
