Dominican Knight Vision 2.0 Capital Campaign Brochure

Page 1

Three key influences inspired our Knight Vision 2.0 campaign theme: • Knight Vision 2.0 follows in the footsteps of the incredibly successful Knight Vision campaign of 2014 that had a dramatic and positive impact on Dominican High School. • Knight Vision 2.0 commits to an even brighter future, with a bold, new vision that will propel us toward creating the very best learning environment for our students both today and tomorrow. • Knight Vision 2.0 highlights our faith, our rich history, our tradition of excellence, and the values articulated by the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa of Truth, Compassion, Justice, Community, and Partnership.

DOMINICAN FAMILY & FRIENDS, What an exciting time it is for our community as we announce the launch of Knight Vision 2.0! We found this campaign theme to be most fitting because the original Knight Vision was so wildly successful and transformational for our Dominican. We are filled with enthusiasm and hope as we share the bold initiatives of this new capital campaign. The investment priorities of Knight Vision 2.0 were selected based on intel gathered throughout the past two years from you, our valuable stakeholders. We believe that focusing on these key initiatives will futher enhance Dominican’s high-quality curriculum, expand our athletic facilities and offerings, and strengthen our infrastructure, all of which will keep Dominican competitive for both our current and future students. We are extremely proud and honored to be a Sinsinawa Dominican sponsored school, rooted deeply in our Catholic faith. We are grateful for our strong foundation and understand the important responsibility we have to carry forward the Dominican mission, values and long-standing history of providing academic excellence and proclaiming the Gospel through our words and actions. Our vision for the future and all that we hope to accomplish through Knight Vision 2.0 is described in the enclosed support materials. I ask that you prayerfully consider making Dominican’s Knight Vision 2.0 Capital Campaign one of your family’s top giving priorities. Your support of this campaign is more than just an investment in Dominican’s future, it’s an investment in a school and community that has made a positive impact on your life and the lives of so many. Help us ensure a brighter future for Dominican High School for generations to come. God’s blessings and thanks,

Leanne Giese President Past & Current Parent

THE PLANNING One could say the planning for Dominican High School’s future really began in 1847 when the order of the sponsoring Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa was founded. Over a century later, in 1956, Dominican High School opened and quickly became a premier north shore Catholic high school under their guidance. Today, we seek to build on our rich tradition, and have arrived at yet another strategic moment in our storied history. We are incredibly proud of the education and faith formation we have provided our graduates, all of whom truly carry forth our core values of truth, compassion, justice, community and partnership. Dominican's leadership is extremely grateful for the thoughtful and enthusiastic campaign planning assistance received from hundreds of parents, past parents, alumni, faculty and staff, friends, and students through: •

Feasibility Study interviews

On-line Survey responses

Focus Group sessions

Committee membership

Recognizing the need to remain a highly competitive school in the north shore, these key insights and consensus priorities emerged: •

Dominican’s reputation for academic excellence and faith formation must continue to be at the forefront of any strategic initiatives and investments.

While the 2014 campaign made improvements to our entrance, auditorium, cafeteria, and infrastructure, future capital improvements need to focus primarily on enhancing our academic and athletic facilities.

Endowment growth is necessary to support the growing need for tuition assistance and to strengthen our long-term financial position.

THE VISION After successfully meeting the challenges of Covid 19, Dominican High School’s leadership assertively moved forward in early 2021 and launched the visionary and comprehensive Knight Vision 2.0 Capital Campaign! •

Knight Vision 2.0 will seek to inspire five-year pledges to invest in those capital projects determined by consensus as our most compelling needs.

The campus improvements will directly benefit current students, parents, administrators and visitors, as well as encourage future families and students to join the Dominican High School community.

Knight Vision 2.0 will completely transform the North Campus with the addition of a new turf field and multi-purpose outdoor terrace. These key additions will provide safe, modern, on campus practice and game facilities as well as outdoor space for student learning, extracurriculars, class functions and community engagement events.

The campaign will significantly enhance our science department to best prepare Dominican students for future study and potential careers in the STEM fields. A new Robotics Center is planned, along with updating the remaining two science classrooms.

Athletic facilities will be further enhanced with an expanded weight room, workout/practice indoor space, and cardio/wellness fitness area. The Crowley Gymnasium will receive new HVAC, flooring, roof, windows, equipment, and many other enhancements.

Finally, one of the most highly supported campaign priorities will be addressed by boldly committing to short and long-term endowment growth, which is one of the most important components of a successful 21st century Catholic high school. We invite all those who believe in our mission to consider making a Planned Gift through their estate and join our esteemed Legacy Society.
