OUR MISSION
Dominican High school provides young adults with a co-educational, Catholic, college-preparatory experience based on the teachings of Jesus. Our faith-driven school community fosters spirituality and creativity, and encourages intellectual, social, physical and artistic development. We commission our students to develop a heightened sense of social responsibility and respect for human dignity based on the values articulated by our sponsoring congregation, the Sinsinawa Dominicans: Truth, Compassion, Justice, Community, and Partnership.
Letter from the President and Board Chair
DOMINICAN FAMILY AND FRIENDS, On behalf of the entire Dominican High School community, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your generous support throughout this past year. Your unwavering commitment to the Dominican mission has made a significant impact on our students, faculty, and the broader community. Your financial support this past year made it possible for us to continue providing the academically rigorous, faith-based education Dominican has been known for over the past 67 years, a high school where young minds are nurtured and values are instilled. Your contributions funded scholarships, upgraded our facilities, and enriched our academic and extracurricular programs, all of which have a direct and positive effect on our students' growth and development. More than just financial support, your dedication to Dominican demonstrates a belief in the transformative power of education and faith. It sends a powerful message to our students that they are valued and supported by alumni, current and past parents, and endless friends who believe in their God-given potential. As we move forward, your generosity will continue to be a driving force behind our efforts to provide a high-quality Catholic education. We are committed to ensuring that every student who walks through our doors has the opportunity to thrive academically, spiritually, and morally. Once again, thank you for your belief in the Dominican mission. Your partnership is helping us shape the leaders of tomorrow, and we are profoundly grateful for your support. God Bless and Go Knights!

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARDS
Every year, Dominican High School honors two graduates who exemplify our five core values of Truth, Compassion, Justice, Community, and Partnership. Dominican is pleased to name David Bowen ’80 its 2023 Distinguished Alum of the Year and Deysha Smith-Jenkins ’12 as the 2023 Young Alum of the Year.
David’s passion for Dominican has stood out for decades. What makes him the perfect choice for the 2023 Distinguished Alum Award is his immeasurable love of Dominican through his recruitment, support, planning and leadership. Over the years David has been a frequent
participant in a variety of Dominican activities including Career Day Speaker, annual auctions, sporting events, the Crowley golf outing committee, and recruiter for the annual Alumni Basketball Knight and Chicago Alumni gatherings.
DAVID BOWEN ’80
2023 Distinguished Alum of the Year
David is the Vice President of Financial Service Automotive at Transunion. Outside of work, he has donated endless time and skills for the annual Wisconsin Special Olympics Basketball Tournament, has officiated basketball games for many years and has mentored young players in the rules of the game. As one of David’s friends put it, “Truth, Compassion, Justice, Community and Partnership are David’s hallmarks, making him an excellent choice for Distinguished Alum of the Year.”
Deysha began volunteering at Dominican almost immediately after returning to the Milwaukee area following college, and has been an amazing example of Dominican’s mission, making her the perfect choice for the 2023 Young Alum award. Since 2016, Deysha has
been volunteering and supporting Dominican as an Alumni Advisory Committee member, Career Day speaker, Young Alum Benefit Party host, and an assistant Girls Varsity Basketball coach. She is also a strength and conditioning coach and a mentor for Dominican female athletes. Deysha has done a variety of work in the journalism arena and currently owns her own business, serving as the CEO of Twenty Fifth Hour. She is also an in-game stadium host for the Green Bay Packers. A former Dominican player said, “Coach Deysha is my ultimate role model. Through her words and actions, she shows us what it means to work hard, believe in yourself and to put others first.”

"The education I received at Dominican prepared me for a future in which I was able to pursue my dreams of a life in music. The quality of education provided me with a broad base of knowledge which enriched my college and post-graduate experiences. It also instilled a level of social consciousness that has informed my beliefs throughout my life. I want to support other fine arts students at Dominican, which is why I'm choosing to name Dominican in my estate plan. I'm so grateful that the connections I made with my teachers continued well beyond high school." 8

THREE GENERATIONS OF GIVING Tom ’65 and Vicki Peluso ’65 Fischer are a part of Dominican’s 5th graduating class and are one of six families to span three generations at Dominican High School. Their daughter Mimi ’92 Schwarz came back to Dominican to welcome her son, Jacob, as a freshman for the 2023-2024 school year. “We’ve all been the product of 16 years of Catholic education,” Tom Fischer said. “Catholic education helped shape who my family is and I know it will continue with my grandson Jacob’s experience here at Dominican. Not giving him a Catholic education would be a disservice to who he’s going to become.”
Tom Fischer ’65 & Michelle ’92 Schwarz
Tom, and his late wife Vicki, have been giving back to Dominican for years in hopes of making a Dominican education possible for many other families and students. “Vicki was friends with everyone at school and loved her years at Dominican,” Tom said. “Giving back will never stop. In our family, serving others in any way possible has become generational.” This is evident in Mimi’s family as well. She and her husband Gerry have served on multiple non-profit boards, attended dozens of auctions for multiple schools and organizations, and volunteered their time in all of their children’s schools. One of their daughters even started her own non-profit organization to help educate children in Jamaica.
Vicki Peluso ’65 Fischer
“Every day, Dominican fights to get through to these kids,” Mimi said. "Dominican bridges the gap between family life and school in such a valuable way. Consequences are bigger in the real world and Dominican is a safe place for our children to make mistakes and perfect them. I trust these teachers to help shape my son because I know they care so much.” Tom and Michelle both agree that giving back to something you love is how you can make a big impact. It’s how you change the world. Jesus told us to take care of each other and that’s what their family continues to do.

Honor Roll of Donors " We have both attended Catholic schools since kindergarten, and our parents were pretty adamant that they wanted us to choose Dominican for high school. It has been a great four years for me. I have loved my classes and teachers, I’ve made great friends and have really enjoyed being a 4-year Varsity baseball player. Cate has maintained a 4.0 GPA and is a starter on the Varsity Softball team. Dominican is not only a great school academically, it’s also a community that strives to bring out the best in every student. Go Knights!" Charlie ’24 with Cate ’26 Wahlen Holy Family School

Scholarship Paddle Raise
Thank you to everyone who attended the 43rd Annual Dominican Auction “A Knight with 007” on April 22, 2023. Together, we raised $144,000 for the Dominican Scholarship Fund during the live paddle raise. The real hero of our evening was scholarship speaker, Chloe Stieghorst ‘23 who shared her heartwarming story of transformation here at Dominican only made possible because of the scholarship fund. It is for students like her and the many others that we ask our community to raise their paddles on auction night.
