Dominican is offering three different summer programs during the 2019 summer. 1. Be part of Dominican’s renowned theatre camp. 2. Families are encouraged to build the schedule that works best for them. Choose as many or as few sessions as you like. How to register Register online at www.dominicanhighshcool.com/summer-programs Program space is limited and availability is based on a policy of first-come, first-served paid registrations. All grade levels reflect the Fall of 2019. Please complete one online registration per student. Program Cancellation/Refund Policy: Dominican High School reserves the right to close programs with maximum enrollment and to cancel programs that do not meet the minimum enrollment 10 days prior to the program starting date. In the event a program is cancelled by the school, participants will receive a full refund. Families who voluntarily withdraw from the program 10 days or more before the program start date will receive a full refund. Refunds will not be given for cancellations that are fewer than 10 days prior to the program start date. There is no pro-rated adjustment of the program fees based on the number of days attended. DOMINICAN THEATRE CAMP Dominican’s exciting, popular, energetic and fun Theatre Camp returns for its 16th summer! Our camps provide comprehensive acting, musical, scene work, and dance skills. With trained former students serving as instructors and directors, our camps will provide a positive, energetic, creative adventure for your summer camp choices. Come check us out!

The Rising Stars (1 week)

The Troupe (4 weeks)

June 17-21 -or- July 22-26 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Grades: K5, 1st, & 2nd grade Cost: $135 per session Camp limited to 20 campers per session.

June 24-July 20 Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Performances: July 19, 7:00 p.m. & July 20, 7:00 p.m. Grades: 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th grade or 9th grade at Dominican in Fall 2019) Cost: $565 Camp limited to 30 campers.

This Rising Star session is perfect for young stars in the making. Campers will discover their talents through the power of drama, music, and dance. Our Campers will create a 30 minute performance for the final day of camp.

The Troupe camp is a four-week session where campers will work toward performing a fully original, full-length musical. Culminating in two performances, campers will focus on characterization, movement, and performance skills.

June 17-28 Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Grades: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade Cost: $345 Camp limited to 60 campers. Please specify if you are signing up with a friend.

July 8-August 3 Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Performances: Friday, Aug. 2, 7:00 p.m. & Saturday, Aug. 3, 7:00 p.m. Grades: 6th, 7th, 8th grade, or 9th grade at Dominican in Fall 2019) Cost: $565 Camp limited to 30 campers.

The Groundlings campers will participate in drama, music, improv and dance classes every day. Throughout this two week session, campers will build a strong ensemble, gain skills in movement and teamwork, work with classic and contemporary text, learn songs from hit musicals and create a 45-minute showcase to be performed the last day of camp.

The Ensemble camp is a four-week session where campers will work towards performing a full-length musical. Campers will be cast based on an audition on the first two days. Culminating in two performances, this camp will emphasize the rehearsal process, including ensemble music, staging, and advanced choreography. Prior camp participation is encouraged.

DOMINICAN summer activity CAMP This brand new program offers campers the opportunity to participate in a variety of fun activities throughout July including science challenges, tech workshops, sports and much more. Families are encouraged to build the schedule that works best for them. Spend your mornings or afternoons having a great time at Dominican or spend whole days with us! Every week features a morning session, a mid-day session, and an afternoon session. Each session takes place over 90 minutes for 5 straight days, and offers several different activities for campers to choose from. DIY SERIES

Programs in the CHALLENGE LAB SERIES will provide participants with the tools they need to figure out the best way to meet a series of challenges through strategic thinking, scientific reasoning, team work, and creativity.

Participants in DIY SERIES programs will mix, craft, re-imagine, and reuse their way through a variety of project-based activities that let you know that you really can DO IT YOURSELF!

Junior Physics In Motion Creation Lab (Grades 4-6) Week 1: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Week 2: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Physics In Motion Creation Lab (Grades 7-9) Week 1: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m. Week 2: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m. Learn the most important concepts in physics and apply them through a new challenge each day. Make a plan based on what you’ve learned. Choose your materials to build your concept. Test and rebuild until you have mastered the challenge!

DIY Fashion Boutique (Grades 4-9) Week 2: 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. From accessories to eye-catching fashion statement pieces, you will love designing and making your own DIY fashion projects. Each day of this program will give you plenty of ways to keep looking great. DIY Bedroom Design Workshop (Grades 4-9) Week 1: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Week 3: 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Does your bedroom need interior design help? Do you need a better way to organize your things? Does your room need some pop? You will love working on a variety of projects that will make your bedroom efficient and attractive.

Junior Storytelling Lab (Grades 4-6) Week 1: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m. Storytelling Lab Rising (Grades 7-9) Week 1: 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Using the core elements of successful storytelling, you will need to build rich characters, thrilling plots, and vivid settings that meet a new set of challenging guidelines each day. As you learn about the best strategies in storytelling, you will craft your story until it is ready to be shared.

DIY Science In A Bowl (Grades 4-9) Week 1: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m. Week 3: 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Find out what can you make when you mix everyday materials in the right way. Slime lovers will delight over this program that will give you plenty of fun projects to keep your hands messy and your scientific curiosity engaged.

DIY Re-purpose Idea Workshop (Grades 4-9) Week 1: 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Week 3: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. It’s time to reuse everyday items and give them new life. In the Re-purpose Idea Studio, you will complete several projects that will spark ideas about how you can take old things and make them new again.

LIFETIME ACTIVITIES SERIES Lifetime Activities is all about spending time having fun, staying fit, and learning new things. With a variety of activities to choose from, participants will have the opportunity to focus on existing interests and to try new things. Table Tennis Clinic (Grades 4-9) Week 2: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Table Tennis players of all skill levels are invited to come and improve their game. Whether you are learning the game for the first time or you are an experienced player, you will love the quality instruction and daily matches against other participants.

Junior Summer Splash of Spanish (Grades 4-6) Week 3: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m Summer Splash of Spanish (Grades 7-9) Week 3: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m Don’t let the summer pass by without a splash of Spanish. New students of Spanish will learn the foundations of the language, and more experienced Spanish students will keep their knowledge fresh. My First Book Club (Grades 4-6) Week 1: 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Week 2: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Come join your first ever book club. Over the course of the week, you will read a book and have guided daily discussions that will explore how the author brings his/her work to life. You will get to share your ideas and reactions each day with a fun group.

Yoga and Nutrition Clinic (Grades 4-9) Week 1: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Start your day right with a yoga session paired with a daily lesson in healthy eating. You will prepare and taste healthy food options that will ensure that you are on the path to daily wellness.

Exploring Short Stories (Grades 7-9) Week 2: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m. Each day you will have the chance to read and discuss thrilling, suspenseful, emotional, and fun stories. You will learn how successful stories are created and learn to see the connections that make characters, plot lines, conflict structures, and other elements work together.

Disc Golf Clinic (Grades 4-9) Week 1: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m. Whether you’ve played Disc Golf in the past or you are brand new to the game, you will love spending the week outside practicing your throws and even traveling to a nearby course to play a few rounds throughout the week. Weight Training and Exercise Clinic (Grades 7-9) Week 3: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Learn the right way to use weight training as a tool to make yourself stronger, more flexible, and ready for athletics. Using the proper techniques and understanding how to develop and follow a personal plan are essential when it comes to making the most of your time in the weight room.

ARTS & EXPRESSION STUDIO SERIES In each Arts and Expression Studio series, participants will use their creativity to make something that is a unique expression of their experiences. From unique visual art programs to dance to creating films, there are plenty of opportunities to learn the crafts of expression. Jr. Visual Art Through Mixed Media Studio (Grades 4-6) Week 2: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Week 3: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m Visual Art Through Mixed Media Studio (Grades 7-9) Week 3: 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Using both traditional and unique art media, you will learn how to create fun and interesting pieces. Artists of all skill levels will come away from this program with new techniques and understanding of how versatile visual arts can be. Junior Painting Studio (Grades 4-6) Week 1: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Week 3: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Painting Studio (Grades 7-9) Week 1: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m. If you love to paint, step into the Painting Studio. Each day, you will learn and practice the most important techniques that will help you improve as a painter. Junior Ceramics Studio (Grades 4-6) Week 2: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m. Ceramics Studio (Grades 7-9) Week 2: 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Throughout the week, you will learn how to make an idea come to life through ceramics. Participants will use a variety of techniques to make several pieces and fire them in a kiln. Find out how much fun ceramics can be! Stained Glass Studio (Grades 7-9) Week 2: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. & 10:15 - 11:45 a.m. This very unique program offers participants the rare opportunity to learn the craft of stained glass. Each participant will create a small piece while learning how to plan a glass design, choose and cut their glass, and then grind, foil and solder their pieces. Junior Dance Team Studio (Grades 4-6) Week 2: 10:15 - 11:45 a.m. Dance Team Studio (Grades 7-9) Week 3: 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. It’s time to dance! Bring your friends and learn how to turn fun music and choreography into dance team success. You will learn and rehearse dances to several songs and perform your dance at the end of the week. Lego Film Creations Studio (GRADES 7-9) Week 2: 12:30 - 2:00 p.m. Forget actors and set designers. Learn the basics of stopmotion film making using Legos! You will create, film, and edit a short film that will bring your imagination to life.

Sports camp

Sports camps Dominican athletics, in partnership with the North Shore Knights Club, is offering several opportunities for athletes to learn

key techniques and build fundamental skills that are essential for young athletes in a variety of sports. Having the opportunity to work with varsity-level coaches ensures the best experience possible for all participants.

Volleyball Club director and varsity coach, Katie O’Keef, offers skill-focused instruction to volleyball players of all levels who are looking to improve their game, meet new people, and have fun. Participants will get focused work on position-specific skills throughout the camp.
