BIG EAST PLAYERS OF THE WEEK Offensive Player of the Week
Mark Knight, Jr., F Knight led the Cardinals to a 6-0 win at DePaul on Oct. 3. The junior forward notched two goals and one assist for five points to help Louisville score its highest number of goals in a game since Oct. 16, 1999 with a 6-1 win over Belmont. Knight crossed the ball to his offensive counterpart Colin Rolfe for the gamewinner in the fourth minute of play. He then went on to score his first goal from three feet in front of the goal in the 13th minute and found the net again in the 16th minute with a scramble in front of the DePaul net. This is Knight’s first career BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week honor and the first for Louisville since Sept. 29 of last season when current junior Austin Berry won.

Defensive Player of the Week
Robert Brickley, Jr., MF Brickley led the Huskies as they recorded their third straight shutout over a BIG EAST team and sixth of the year with the 1-0 win over then-No. RV/13 Georgetown on Oct. 3. Brickley and the Huskies held the Hoyas to just one shot on goal and a total of six shot attempts. Georgetown was limited to its time in the goal box as the defense held tight for 90 minutes. The defensive player of the week award goes to Connecticut for the second straight week and Brickley earns the honor for the first time in his career.
Rookie of the Week
Ryan Jones, R-Fr., GK Jones earned the first shutout of his collegiate career in a 3-0 win at Rutgers on Oct. 2. The redshirt freshman made five saves, all in the second half, to help the Orange end their seven-game losing streak and earn the team’s first blank sheet of the year. Jones was the last line of defense against a Rutgers team that entered the match averaging 1.38 goals per game. This is the first rookie of the week honor for Syracuse since current senior Hansen Woodruff was named on Oct. 9, 2006.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Jeff Attinella, Jr., GK Attinella recorded his fourth shutout of the year with a 1-0 home victory over Cincinnati on Oct. 3. The junior keeper made seven saves in the 90 minutes of play. Attinella came up with a huge save when Cincinnati was awarded a penalty kick with eight minutes remaining in the game to preserve the Bulls’ 1-0 lead. Attinella also won the award on Sept. 14, and has now won goalkeeper of the week for the second time in his career.
