Entrepreneur Bio: Larry Page Larry Page’s official title when searched online is “Computer Scientist” or “Internet Entrepreneur.” He has built his way up from the bottom to the top of the ladder and has the money to prove it. His fortune came to him in a dream. Well, not literally. But the idea behind his fortune, Google, did first come to him while he was sleeping. As soon as he woke up he knew he had to write down his idea of downloading the entire web onto computers. Little did he know in 1996 when he was just 23 years old, that this invention would change the world. As the years have gone by, the website has been revolutionized many times over, but the basics remain the same. It gave everyone access to endless streams of information that helped educate the world. It is hard to believe that Larry Page once had to convince himself that his idea would work.

Google It has been such a prosperous venture that in just the final quarter of 2011, it was the first time that Google received more than $10 billion in revenue. Now they continue to prosper and earn more every year. The average amount of searches that happen on Google every day is an unbelievable 2.5 billion searches. Through these searches, people are able to get faster and more reliable information than they ever have been able to before. In comparison to that $10 billion that Google was able to earn in just three months, in the past three years, Larry Page and his fellow co-founder Sergey Brin have managed to only spend about $11.8 billion on research and development for the site, which brings their profit to a staggering number. The co-founders have big plans for that money. They are constantly thinking of more new ideas to make their brand and company stand out from the rest of the competition. When asked how Larry Page and Sergey Brin are able to maintain the status of their company while also pursuing more growth, they claim that they stick to the “70-20-10” rule. This rule means that the majority, or 70 percent of their funds, goes towards working on the core efforts of the company. The next 20 percent goes towards expanding the company. The co-founders make sure to save the last 10 percent for whatever they might need it for.

More Google The more years that go by and the more Google expands, the harder it is to find anything that falls into that category for them. However, they find it extremely important to keep their team creative by allowing them to think outside the box.

If Larry Page can become a “Computer Scientist” and an “Internet Entrepreneur” over night by dreaming the invention of Google, anyone that pursues their education can do the same. Follow Page’s example by getting a degree in anything you like- from business administration to new media marketing.
