May 2016 Issue 8
From the PTA President The school year is wrapping up; as we finish those final assignments, show our appreciation to hard-working teachers, and sign our best wishes in yearbooks, I can't help but get excited for those lazy days of summer! This summer is bittersweet for me - the PTA President torch will be passed, and while I will miss being in the center of the action, I know that capable hands are eager to step up to the work. I've said it before: Donaldson Elementary thrives because of constant change and the never-ending desire to become better. New officers bring that change and desire, and I am looking forward to supporting them in their endeavors. However, volunteering at Donaldson is one of my true loves! I will still be found helping at Book Fairs and Santa Shop, handing out birthday books, or hanging out in the library!

The Donaldson Elementary PTA is hosting the final collection effort for the 2015-2016 school year for Box Tops for Education. Each student that turns in Box Tops for Education (including Bonus Box Tops) will win a prize! Please continue to collect these over the summer as there will be a collection effort at the beginning of the school year. Please submit the Box Tops in either plastic bags or sealed envelopes – no collection pages are necessary. If you do use collection pages, please do not attach any Bonus Certificates to them as they must be turned in separately. MOST IMPORTANTLY - In order for prizes to be awarded, all submissions must be clearly marked with both the student’s name and the teacher’s name. In order that prizes can be distributed prior to the end of school, please turn in your submission by May 20, 2016. Are you not sure what Box Tops for Education look like, or what they mean to the school? Each Box Top collected means Donaldson Elementary earns $0.10. That may not seem like much, but it can certainly add up, and last year it did to almost $1,500. Best of all, it is money the school can earn without you spending anything additional. These Box Tops and bonus certificates are on the products you are likely already purchasing. Just clip them out and send them in. Any questions, please contact Susan Betta at susanbetta@gmail.com.
