A Little Yeast Leavens
Fr.JeffreyL.Mangubat,SDBAs we conclude the School Year 2023-2024, the Educative Pastoral Community of our institution is filled with enthusiasm and gratitude for the journey we have shared with you and your parents. Together, we have strived to shape you into good Christians and upright citizens, in keeping with the values of St. John Bosco's Preventive System.
Reflecting on continuous formation and growth, this Annual Bulletin stands as a testament to the potential we have realized within our educational framework this year. As the Scripture says in Galatians 5:9, "A little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough," we are reminded that each of us has the power to influence and transform our community. Even the smallest contributions can multiply, creating
a vibrant and fruitful community of educators and learners.
St. John Bosco, from his humble beginnings, became a powerful influence, guiding many young people to find their purpose through education. He calls us to be like yeast to one another, fostering growth and direction aligned with God's intentions for us.
As we reflect on this past school year, let us embrace the journey we have shared making it a foundation
RebirthingGreatness
Fr. Paul Aldrin Dungca, SDBHead Curator
In this inaugural annual bulletin, we are weaving together the tales of greatness, not perfection. This is the first of its kind here at Don Bosco Canlubang, an endeavor born from our determination to preserve history. For it is history that shapes us, molds us, and ultimately defines us.
However, do not misunderstand us. When we speak of greatness at Don Bosco College, we are not solely referring to academic excellence or success in our endeavors.
Greatness, in our view, encompasses three profound dimensions.
First, it is about becoming good Christians and upright citizens, embodying the virtues that Don Bosco envisioned for his children. This moral and spiritual foundation is the cornerstone of our existence.
Second, greatness signifies the pursuit of a higher purpose, a spiritual journey. It is about finding profound meaning in the ordinary, transforming everyday tasks into acts of extraordinary significance. This is the essence of true holinessdoing our ordinary duties extraordinarily well.
Third, as an institution, our goal is to nurture and develop men and women of fruitfulness, continuing our legacy after six decades here in Laguna. We aim to cultivate individuals who embody the values and spirit of St. John Bosco, ready to make a meaningful impact on the world.
As we compile these stories, let us celebrate the greatness within us all. Together, we honor our past, embrace our present, and inspire our future.
The cover of our inaugural annual bulletin features four Junior High School Bosconians enjoying friendship and laughter, perfectly capturing our theme of greatness in everyday moments. This vibrant image symbolizes the core values of Don Bosco Canlubang, highlighting the significance of genuine connections and shared happiness It serves as a reminder that true greatness lies not in grand achievements but in the simple, heartfelt interactions that shape our community and enrich our lives.

Ad Maiora NatusGreywolves: We Lead as One!
Leadership Camp and Training in Baguio
The Bosconian student leaders of Grade School to College level gathered at the mountains of Baguio City for the Wolves’ Den 2023 Leadership Camp. This four-day journey, based on the principles of Don Bosco, showed that even though a wolf may go out alone, he is strong in the pack. The camp created a desire for servant leadership and development, interpersonal relationships, and service to others.
The adventure started with an early trip to Baguio and a rousing reception at the grand Salesian House. On the first day of the camp, various activities were done to foster team spirit as well as encourage creativity in solving problems that were set Several activities were used to help participants consider their role, purpose, and mission as leaders; the day ended with adoration and fellowship.
On Day Two, they spent on defining their mission, designing logos, and giving an overview of the deliverables, followed by a Taize prayer and laughter night. On the third day, there was an adventurous city tour of the wolves which went through several interesting places despite the rain which made the wolves share experiences. On the last day, the participants shared their thoughts on the process of personal development and how they became real servant leaders.
When the bus returned to Canlubang, the wolves had more than the memories of the event with them. They came back with a zeal to serve, and a promise to be the leaders people can trust, and the friends they need. Not only did Wolves’ Den 2023 help them prepare for leadership roles, but it also helped them embrace Don Bosco’s values and the notion that leadership is not about ruling but rather about helping people. With their hearts and minds ready to go on to inspire and lead, these Bosconian leaders depart with the principles of servant leadership in tow, the lessons learned, and the friendships made forming the foundation of their futures, keeping the light of Wolves’ Den within them.

First EPC Mass
The Mass of the Holy Spirit: A way to begin the year
Last September 7, 2023, Don Bosco College Canlubang celebrated the Mass of the Holy Spirit and the first mass of the students and faculty as one Educative Pastoral Community led by our Rector, Rev. Fr. Jeffrey L. Mangubat, SDB. This first EPC Mass of S Y 2023-2024 was a stepping stone for setting a positive and spiritually uplifting tone for the year ahead
During Fr. JM’s homily, we were reminded of all the great things the Holy Spirit has gifted us, which are Wisdom, Fear of the Lord, Knowledge, Counsel, Piety, Fortitude, and Understanding. In the spirit of St John Bosco, the Mass of the Holy Spirit was not just a beginning but a continuation of a legacy towards creating a community where faith is formed, and leaders are born.
As Bosconians, may we always do our ordinary duties extraordinarily well, along with the gifts of the Holy Spirit!
Do you want to outwit the devil? Never let him catch you idle.
Family and nation matter here in DB.
Ad Maiora NatusParents and Child Camp:
This camp strengthens the bond between parents and children during adolescence.
After four years, the Parent and Sons Camp, now “Parents and Child Camp,” is back, loaded with more fun and ‘herstory’ as Grade 7 female Bosconians are now part of the annual event. The camp was held in three sessions: October 2021 for G7-Kesy, October 27-28 for G7Klinik, and November 10-11 for G7Vicuña
Campers immersed themselves in a whirlwind of activities crafted to foster camaraderie, fortify resilience, ignite courage, and broaden perspectives The first day started with tent-pitching, followed by flag-making, a cookfest, and a fun evening program that ended with a thrilling midnight treasure hunt.
Junior High School
The excitement continued on the second day with morning exercises, an endurance test, an Amazing Race, and swimming. The camp taught students many valuable lessons They learned the importance of camaraderie through team challenges that required everyone to work together Despite setbacks, students saw the value of never giving up. One camper emphasized, "No matter how many minus points the group gets or how hard the activities are, we see the importance of persistence. The joy of accomplishing what you have done is the best feeling ever!”
However, the significance of the camp extended well beyond the realm of structured activities and lessons. It served as a catalyst for strengthening the bond between parents and their children a bond nurtured through shared experiences and unwavering support Amidst the simple rituals of tent-pitching and the adrenaline-fueled adventures of the Amazing Race, parents and children found themselves not just as participants but as allies, navigating the challenges of the camp together. The laughter around the campfire, the whispered words of encouragement during moments of uncertainty these were the building blocks of a bond that transcended mere familial ties
As parents witnessed the resilience and determination of their children, they were reminded of the boundless potential within them Conversely, children looked to their parents for guidance and support, finding in them unwavering pillars of love and encouragement.

Ordination of Fr. Paul
Aldrin Dungca, SDB
On the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, various communities gathered in the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians Parish in Parañaque to bear witness to the Presbyteral Ordination of three deacons
After much anticipation, the gift of ordination to the priesthood was bestowed upon Rev. Paul Aldrin Dungca, SDB, Rev. Adnan Alfred, SDB, and Rev. Daniel Gonzales, SDB. The ordaining prelate, His Excellency Socrates Villegas, O P, DD, Archbishop of LingayenDagupan, presided over the Holy Mass. Accompanying him were the concelebrating priests from both Salesian and diocesan clergy. In his homily, Archbishop Socrates emphasized three things: everything is grace; everything must be shared; and everything must be shared generously.
In their messages, Rev. Fr. Daniel remarked that the long journey to their priesthood can be summarized into the words, ”It is the Lord”. Rev. Fr. Adnan expressed gratitude to the people that made their ordination possible: the confreres who have nurtured and guided them since their Diaconal Ordination, Archbishop Socrates who ordained them, their fellow classmates and batchmates, the altar servers and choir, the youth, friends, and family that made the ordination momentous, and most importantly to God. Lastly, Rev. Fr. Paul stated in his message his promise that the first words he would say as a priest are “God is merciful, loving, and gentle Father.
Among the people who filled the Shrine were a delegation of students and Lay Mission Partners from Don Bosco College Canlubang and young people from distant locations such as Don Bosco San Jose, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Metro Manila.
As the newly ordained priests celebrate the grace they have received, let us continue praying for their fruitful ministry in the priesthood, and may we remember the reason for our grace--it is the Lord!

Women’s Month
In celebration of the women in our midst
Don Bosco College Canlubang echoed with appreciation this March 12th as the Seekers, a student organization, held a simple event in honor of National Women's Month. Following the Senior High School morning assembly, the group serenaded female students and educators, acknowledging women's vital role within the school community
This heartfelt gesture, accompanied by the distribution of roses and chocolates, served as a sweet token of appreciation for the women who inspire and guide the department.
National Women's Month, celebrated annually in March, is more than just a commemoration. It's a time to recognize the significant contributions of women throughout history and society.
It's a moment to reflect on the progress made towards women's rights and gender equality. National Women's Month also serves as a stark reminder of the remaining challenges. Women continue to be underrepresented in fields like education, science, arts, politics, law, business, and sports.
National Women's Month holds an additional layer of significance for Don Bosco and the Salesian community. It's a time to remember the important women in St. John Bosco's life, Mama Margaret, and Mama Mary, whose unwavering support shaped his identity.
Ultimately, National Women's Month is not just about celebrating past victories. It's a call to action, a beacon of hope, and a source of inspiration for a future where women can break down barriers and reach their full potential in all aspects of life
To know that you are young is sufficient reason for me to care for your welfare.
