DONCASTER ROVERS SUPPORTERS LIAISON OFFICER

Good afternoon and welcome to the Keepmoat Stadium and a very warm welcome to all the visiting fans from Wycombe Wanderers.

SLO SEMINAR During December I attended the annual EFL SLO seminar which is held at EFL House, in Preston. It is an opportunity for all the SLOs in the north of the country to get together, discuss our roles and share best practice. The day started with a presentation from the Independent Football Ombudsman (IFO), this was to discuss the process of raising issues and complaints with the IFO. Following on from this we had an update on match day safety and security by the EFL’s security and operations advisor, this is always an interesting discussion as it is around how the SLO’s work with the safety teams at different clubs. The day finished with a workshop on safeguarding and looking at different reallife scenarios. Safeguarding is something that we take very seriously here at Rovers, if you ever come across any safeguarding issues please get in contact with myself, the stewards or our safeguarding officer. As always it was an enjoyable event and great to discuss many aspects of the role with my fellow SLOs.

EFL NEWSLETTER Following the meeting, the latest edition of the SLO newsletter was released by the EFL and included in the newsletter was a great piece on the clubs new first time fans / away fans video guide. Many people on the day of the meeting came to chat with me about the video and all had great things to say about it. As far as I am aware, we are currently the only EFL club who has such a video and hopefully following the meeting and the release of the newsletter it will encourage a few other clubs to produce a similar video.
