Faculty of Engineering + IT Construction / Defects Denton Corker Marshall As a first project, and coming in at a late stage; the learning curve was very large. As challenging as it was the team was very supportive in ensuring that I grew into the role as quick as possible. Shown are drawings that I prepared for publication in various architectural magazines and websites. It was a process of taking the existing Revit model and cleaning the drawing to attain a level of clarity and simplicity for publication. Images are property of Denton Corker Marshall

The documentation of the Tender Phase of the project was very fast paced. I was working within a small team that allowed more responsibility with the delivery and quality of the drawings. Here is a selection of drawings showing the various detail for the stair case and balustrades. It demonstrates the ability to document in 3D and 2D in Revit; plus the ability to manipulate the BIM model to show only the relevant information.

Masters Studio Theatre in The Cube Studio Leaders: NH Architecture - Martin Heide, Hamish Lyon The project aims to break the linearity of the arts precinct and serves to draw people from St Kilda Road onto Sturt Street. Melbourne’s cultural precinct features a series of singular monolithic objects that create a linear feel to the area. They are set within an urbanized landscape, comparable to the folly in the park. Theatre in the Cube is quite simply a rotated Black Box within a glass box. Where the theatre is being put on display like a piece of art in a gallery. It gives a different experience from traditional theatres, as the auditorium becomes the centre piece for the space. Theatre in a Cube has three levels of reading: from a distance as an urban object of black box within a glass box; within the building, as a performance space within a black box; and finally, as a theatre in the round.

Thesis Studio The Hour Glass, The Portal and The Cosmos: Cabinets of Curiosities at Luna Park Studio Leader: Derham Groves This thesis comprised of 3 mini projects that would establish a narrative around the history and stories of Luna Park. With an eclectic mix of architectural styles, games, and attractions that give people a sense that they are within another world; the context of the cabinets is firmly grounded within Luna Park DNA.
The Esplanade Vaults of St Kilda has been abandoned since the 1970’s, and has been reopened for events such as Melbourne Open House. In the process of preparing The Vaults for Open House, removalist stumbled into a NETSroom OF CURIOSITY RIOSITY which stored objects that belonged to Luna Park. These remnant objects date back to the opening of Luna Park and can shed light on the its lost or forgotten history.

The Hour Glass Several crates that were found within the vaults belonged to the unclaimed lost and found of Luna Park. Although the items vary in terms of the use, size, and shape; they serve a snapshot of the era in which these items were lost and the type of people they belonged to. By incorporating the lockers within the small cabinet allows for a commentary on how objects can be frozen in time. The small cabinet and exhibition of banal objects express the notion of Luna Park as a sum greater than its parts.
The Portal The medium cabinet is an expression of a portal like gateway giving the impression of walking into another world. The world which people are led to discover is that of the Side Shows and Side Attractions that were once that mainstays at Luna Park. The Side Shows of Luna Park, have often been rotated through the years. They became less popular as the years went on and many went to find employment elsewhere. Left behind are some odd items that shed light on their stories of working at Luna Park
The Comos The large cabinet allows the audience to lose sense of where they are within the Luna Park cosmos. Through old memorabilia and art, the audience is lead through the feeling of nostalgia of the history of the amusement park. This raises the idea of the souvenirs or the miniature and how it seen as a keep sake. In the context of Luna Park; the souvenirs, memorabilia, photos, and artworks, evoke a similar feeling of remembering and holding onto the past. Throughout the years, Luna Park has undergone many changes and renovations. What happened in the past at Luna Park is often forgotten or lost through time. The exhibition and the setting is an attempt to evoke a sense of what is still present and what is lost.
Masters Studio D ArtScape Studio Leader Anna Nervegna ArtScape is an art gallery that is wedged between The Esplanade and Jacka Boulevard with a form that is creating a landscape building. Inspired by constructivist painting of points, lines and planes; the volumes create internal and external points of interest, with circulation that leads to these programs. The program of the gallery serves to compliment the cultural landmarks along the Foreshore, with an overall form that does not compete with the Palais Theatre. Selected edges of the forms are brought down to ground level which allows the building to act as a landscape, and simultaneously preserves the views from the Esplanade to the Foreshore. With the form engaging the Esplanade at a central location, patrons are able to traffic from The Esplanade through a gallery and through to the foreshore. The material of the timber walk ways are brought into the temporary galleries via ramps as a notion of extending the Esplanade onto the site.

The idea of the workplace environment being a commodity that is exchangeable for market and MENTsocial 4: GROUND FACADE AND ENTRY values isLOBBY a growing focus of interest in many G LINGmodern YU 387914institutional buildings. Pods are extruded ERTO MERLO off the building slabs, allowing the workplace environment to invade the public space, and also allowing the public eye to engage and ‘consume’ the activities within the working environment. This strong architectural gesture allows the public to ‘invade’ the spaces and vice versa, making it ‘sellable’ and consumable by the public. ALUCOBOND ROOFING ALUMINIUM
In conjunction with our design intent, the design of our building façade as well as other exterior finishes revolve around the main purpose of restraining the expression of the whole building, and just focusing on the architectural expression of the pods. This intent influenced several design and construction decisions such as follows:

arrangement of the pods. 2. Depending on where the wind comes from, it can be either directed upwards or downwards 3. In reality, winds won’t always blow at the building from one direction only, so keeping this in mind, there may be some intense 1:50 Section of Entry A4.1 turbulence happening in between the 3 twisting mass that are formed by the pods. Knowing this, we should strengthen the structural stability of the pods by adding more bracing structure so that it can withstand uplifting, downwards, and even shear forces from the turbulence.
