Signs of Gum Disease

You frequently hear the word “gum disease to your dentist and no matter how hard you listen to what he is saying it is like a breeze of air that just passes to you. Well you are not alone, every time I went to McAllen dentist and talk to me about the importance of gum disease prevention and what it can do to my health I cannot help but to just nod off and think of what I am going to eat after this. It just hit me hard when a friend of mine breaks the news of him having a gum disease and needed to extract his teeth. As I saw what happened to him I went to my dentist once again and this time I listened hard enough to what he is saying, and here are some of the signs that you must go straight to your dentist right away;

• Gums that bleeds easily. • Red, tender and swollen gums are not a good sign. • Pus is coming out between your teeth and gum when pressed. • When your gums looks like it pulls out of your teeth. • Chronic bad breath and have bad taste inside the mouth. • A change on your bite or the way your tooth fits together. • Loose or separating teeth.

With this warning signs, it is no wonder why it causes to lose a tooth that is why it is necessary to notify your dentist immediately if you are experiencing any of this sign. The main cause of gum disease is plaque buildup along the gum lines of your teeth, the bacteria in the plaque produces acid and other toxins that destroy the bone and tissue of the gums for a period of time. Prolonged exposure of your teeth from these harmful bacteria can cause the start of your gum problems.

Tartar buildup is the thick deposit that is from the hardened plaque, brushing alone is not enough to remove the plaque that are in between the teeth and a tartar build up will be experience that is why flossing of teeth is needed to be done every day. Tartar can lead to chronic inflammation and infection along your gum line and the best way to remove it is through professional cleaning from your dental clinic. With this new information, I now realized the importance of having clean teeth not just from brushing but for removal of plaque and other gum dirt that can be found along our gums. Listening to what your dentist is saying is also important as it will help you to avoid a bigger problem in the future.
