Songwriter Series Free | 8:00 PM
For our songwriter series, Papa Charlie’s transforms into a listening room showcasing the Midwest’s top songwriters in a theater-like setting. The intimate room and great sound gives the audience an opportunity to immerse into the stories and craft of the song.
MONDAY MARCH 2
ERIK KOSKINEN Musically sprouted from the blend of American folk, country, rock-n-roll, and blues, Erik Koskinen and his top-shelf band realize a sound that is distinctive and fresh while familiar and classic. Koskinen's albums are a lyrical and musical metaphor of American's theaters of war, of history, of relationships, and of the reflections in the mirror.
MONDAY MARCH 9
ACTUAL WOLF In these songs, angels and devils mingle in neutral territory, and stubborn optimism burns life’s accumulated disappointment as fuel. This is the sound of a New Americana: complex harmonies soar over the rich earthy loam of Eric Pollard’s effortless working class poeticism. His music plays out like a vintage record store find, with a care to storytelling and payoff choruses that are in scarce supply these days.

HALEY
FKA Haley Bonar until 2017, when she legally changed to her maternal surname McCallum. Now she performs under simply 'Haley'. Although she has been creating work for 18 years, the fact that it feels like Haley is just beginning is possibly the most remarkable thing about her artistry. Moving with confidence and vulnerability through genre and category, Haley's music engages the audience regardless of the direction it is coming from.
MONDAY MARCH 23
CHRIS KOZA Chris Koza is a musician, composer and performer living and working in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Influences range from finger-picking folk guitar to fuse-busting prog rock, though generally settles tastefully somewhere in-between. Koza's storytelling and observations are thoughtfully navigated by melodies that both migrate through the seasons and burrow through the earth.
