ABOUTTY COUN the

Across the majestic Hudson River, Dutchess County sits on the east side about 100 kilometers north of Manhattan. The two counties’ shared history encompasses the lives of the Lenni-Lenape people, and the Dutch Colonial, English, and Palatine German settlers. The region played an integral part during the Revolutionary War, inspired America’s first art movement, was the country playground for Gilded Age aristocracy, and the beloved home of America’s 32nd president, Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Now visitors can discover world-class cultural attractions, savor a vibrant culinary scene, tour historic mansions, and hike, bike, kayak or fly to enjoy the stunning natural scenic beauty that is the Hudson Valley.

Roosevelt, Val-Kill, the home of Eleanor Roosevelt and the only National Historic Site dedicated to a First Lady; and explore Vanderbilt Mansion for an encounter with Gilded Age aristocracy.

ARTS & CULTURE Dutchess has a thriving art scene that includes festivals and events, live performances and historic venues. The museum Dia:Beacon is home to large scale works by renowned contemporary artists dating back to the 1960s, galleries sell handcrafted prices by local artists, and the annual Bard SummerScape Festival attracts visitors from around the world for eight weeks of opera, theater, music, dance and film.

A short train ride from NYC brings you to the Saratoga Region, home to 300 years of history. This area has been at the center of America’s story, and every major movement had a moment here. Visit historic homes, battlefields, and museum; enjoy eclectic galleries, unique shops, top-rated restaurants and lodging. Travelers seek out Saratoga for the world class thoroughbred racing, renowned arts and culture offerings, and a multitude of wellness activities. Inspiring natural adventures and experiences are minutes from the award-winning downtown.

SARATOGA IS... A PERFORMING ARTS CITY

Galleries are found in the Beekman St. Arts District & Downtown Arts District. Skidmore College boasts the Arthur Zankel Music Center, Schick Art Gallery & Tang Teaching Museum, and offers year round music and dance performances.

There’s never a shortage of live music, theater or events in the Saratoga region. The iconic Saratoga Performing Arts Center, named the Best Outdoor Music Venue in a USA Today 10 Best readers’ poll, hosts one of the most respected & popular Jazz Festivals in the United States, and is the summer home of the New York City Ballet, Philadelphia Orchestra and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Saratoga is also home to Caffe Lena, the oldest continuously operating folk music venue in the United States. The Library of Congress calls Caffè Lena “An American treasure,” and the venue has been recognized by The GRAMMY Foundation for their important contributions to the development of American music. Yet they are proud to stay true to Lena’s founding vision of simplicity, kindness to strangers, and art above profit. This venue hosted a young Bob Dylan and Arlo Guthrie, and since its opening in 1960, has helped to launch many of America’s best loved songwriters.

SARATOGA IS... EDUCATION, ENTERTAINMENT, & THE GREAT OUTDOORS Saratoga’s distinct history and heritage is the core of the city’s culture and way of life. Originally known as “the Queen of the Spas,” Saratoga is a thriving City in the Country. The naturally carbonated mineral waters of Saratoga Springs, NY, are one of the area’s greatest assets. Historically, Mohawk and Iroquois tribes drank and bathed in these waters for its healing properties. Today, locals and visitors alike can drink from the springs and bathe in Saratoga mineral baths.

Whether you’re interested in history or art, horse racing or dance, there is a diverse selection of museums to visit in the Saratoga area over 25 to choose from! National, state and local museums are spread throughout the region, many walkable from the historic downtown. Ready to get outdoors? The Saratoga Springs region perfectly combines the vibrancy of a small city with all the outdoor activities one would expect from an area located near the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. Four-seasons of outdoor fun is why we won the 2016 heathiest county in New York State! Grab a bike, hike a trail, get out on a lake, or stroll downtown. Year round festivals and events will keep you coming back to our award winning city.

SARATOGA IS... A CULINARY DESTINATION Over 90 restaurants call Saratoga home, offering everything from a slice of pizza to a 5 star dining experience. The diversity of menus and settings ensures that even the pickiest diner will find something to please their palate. Take a cooking class, visit a farmers market, pull up a chair at a communal farm-to - table meal, or join us for one of our famous festival: Chowderfest, Saratoga Beer Week, & International Flavor Feast, In addition, downtown Saratoga Springs' nightlife scene is always hopping, whether you are looking for a friendly pub and a pint, some wine and some jazz, or a place to dance the night away. Of course, there are an abundance of craft breweries, wineries, & distilleries to help quench your thirst.

Quality is what sets Corning & the Southern Finger Lakes apart. With small towns which have been designated the “Coolest” and the “Most Fun” in America, world-class museums and award-winning wineries, we have been getting it right for decades. A new emerging brewery scene, unique shops, breathtaking scenery, and so many exciting ways your group can create hands-on fun are just a few of the great opportunities that await you in the Finger Lakes.

Destination of Innovation

The Corning Museum of Glass, the world’s largest museum devoted to glass art and artifacts. Watch master glassblowers transform molten glass before your eyes, create your own glass memento.

With 13 wineries—including the 1st bonded winery in the U.S., a winery founded on the motto of wine with laughter, and another winery which sparked the Vinifera Revolution in the Eastern US—our winemaking roots run deep.

Chances are, you never learned about Glenn H Curtiss in any history books, despite being a motorcycle pioneer, daredevil, and “fastest man on earth,” or despite his eventually being called Father of Naval Aviation.

Finger Lakes cuisine is so exceptional. World-class wine. Award-winning craft beverages. A history of agriculture. Where do you think those restaurants in the city get their food from?

In Corning & the Southern Finger Lakes you’ll find quintessential small-town Americana without compromising on world-class experiences.

Consider one of our many hotels your destination headquarters – the place where your group musters before exploring wine country.

Onondaga Lake Park is the most popular park in Central New York and it’s easy to see why. Bike it around the lake by renting a two-wheel, three-wheel, surrey quadricycle, or even conference bike (seats up to 7 people). Experience the best paved, free trails in the region as well as several miles of shoreling; a legacy of history reflecting 500 years of growth.

If you’re looking for “what’s new” and something a little different, you’ll find it in New York’s Country Byways region! Located halfway between Niagara Falls and the Finger Lakes, it’s a convenient and interesting place to tour with your group.
