What will I do today? Today, you will take a picture of yourself (or “selfie”) and share it with us

4

What will learn doing this? You will learn to take pictures, select the most fascinating one (for some reason or another) and post it to Instagram for all of us to see. You will also learn to organize your time.

Doudou is the favorite toy of my son, he takes it with him everywhere he goes, and me i’m the big eyes who folow every of his trip :)

Tatou is a tradition art in Algeria, For Amazigh people, the tattoos were considered enhancers of beauty when applied to the face and had therapeutic and healing purposes particularly related to fertility - when found elsewhere on the body, such as above the ankle or on the back of the hand. For men, traditional tattoos were far less ornamental and served healing purposes. This is definitly my mask!!

What will learn doing this? To make something new. To challenge yourself with a real project. Find examples and references. Find the proper “how-to. Define the constraints: how much money you have, time, your skills...

# T o M a k e T h i n g s E as y

What will I do today? Make a mask representing yourself and share a selfie wearing that mask. Once you are done, post your picture

What will learn doing this? Practically speaking, you learn some origami basics. The most reasonable way to go through the exercise is to find an origami bird “how-to and follow the instructions (of course, we are open to any other way, idea, solution...).

# M at h A n d M a g i c

What will I do today? Today, you will become a bird. Take a sheet of paper (maximum A4 size) and represent yourself as a three dimensional bird.

# F l o w I t S h o w I t

What will I do today? You will tell a story about something you hate using the “collage” technique.

What will learn doing this? You will learn to tell stories. You will learn to use a “collage” application. In short, you will learn to tell stories using the collage technique. One whole week dedicated to our minds, storytelling and collage. :-)

Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

7

What will learn doing this? When we talk about storytelling, there are different factors of conduction, of transmission. It all depends on your audience, tone of narration, punctuation and evidently the overall coherence. How do you address a certain audience?

8

Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

# F l o w I t S h o w I t

What will I do today? First of all. you will focus on your body. Then, you will make a digital collage telling a story about a “feeling of yours.

What will I do today? You will focus on one of your “hands and tell a story about your past. All of this using the collage technique and a digital collage application.

#LiveInHangzhou

What will learn doing this? To think about some specific element from your past and tell a story about it. To practice doing things with your collage tools and applications. To understand new things everyday!

#FlexibilityOfThings

What will I do today? Remember last week when you were a paper bird? Today, you will transform yourself into that bird (once again) and go fly for a while. You will observe and discover lots of various things from above, lots of changings landscapes..

10

What will learn doing this? You will learn that when telling a story, you must go with the flow. Follow the string of things. Follow the natural order and flexibility of things.

Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

# A stra l D a n c e

What will I do today? Today is Friday, the perfect day to focus on your future. What is this future like? Easy. Now, tell us a

What will learn doing this? That “eventually, everything connects - people, ideas, objects. The quality of the connections is the key to quality per se. This quote is from Charles Eames.

SpecialDish

What will I do today? Today, you will map / document the tools you need to make your recipe. Will you draw them? Will you find little icons from the noun project website to represent them? Will you lay them on a white, clean and simple surface and take a picture for us?

12

What will I learn doing this? To share a kitchen story. This week, from day 1 to day 5 we share a elements of a story. Every day, we share a different element of the whole process. On Monday, we chose the recipe and searched for map references. Yesterday, it was about ingredients. Today, we are at day 3 and proceed on with the tools. Focus on the tools. Find a way to communicate with us everything you need (in terms of “tools) to make your recipe. Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

What will I do today?

Wit h F ire w o r k s

Today, you will map / document the process (steps) for making your recipe. Will you follow the same logic you followed in the past 3 days? Remember to keep things as clear and simple as possible! :-) Once you have your image, share it with us on Instagram using the hashtags: #WithFireworks and #Design1o1Redux. Then, in the caption section, write something meaningful to accompany your image. It could be the “written” list of your steps, or it could be an important thought of yours… What will I learn doing this? To think in terms of “process”. Normally, we think about products. Here, it is the way around. To acknowledge that design is 99% about the process. The 99% of the remaining 1% is about how you share it with others. If you know how to share things properly and thus, grab others’ attention, people will remember you as a good source for information and refer to you in the future. Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

Cookbook1o1

What will I do today? On Monday, you chose your recipe, wrote down in words and found references of nice maps you liked. In the following days, you mapped / documented your recipe ingredients, tools and “steps”. Today is the big day in which you will turn your recipe into a map / landscape and create one of the recipes to be featured in the “Design 1o1 Redux Cookbook”! Our very first “big” project! Are you ready? :-)

14

What will I learn doing this? To plan, design and communicate information (to others). To make one of the recipes for the Design 1o1 Cookbook. To make a whole project, from day 1 to day 5.

# D ress I mpe c c a b l y

What will I do today? Now is time to get inspired for this “fashion” week of ours and search for references. Think about this special “outfit” of yours. Think about where you could have seen something like it in the past..

What will I learn doing this? To think and discover more about the world of clothes. Clothes to look at, to draw from, to prototype, and to even wear.

Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

15

What will I learn doing this? You will learn to deal with fabric... It is not an easy task. To deal with very flexible materials sometimes calls for rigid decision making. And sometimes not... It all depends on your touch!Of course, we all know that this week, we work with digital (and paper), so you won’t be physically “touching” the materials with your hands.

16

Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

#CrepeOrNeoprene

What will I do today? Today, from a rainbow of materials, textures and colours, you will handpick the fabric(s) needed to make your outfit and show it (or them) to us on Instagram.

#BeingAliveToday

What will I do today? Today, you will merge / overlay the fabric(s) you found yesterday to the pattern you created on Monday, print the whole thing out on paper and prepare your outfit’s paper model (that will serve to dress your “little self” up on Friday).

What will I learn doing this? To think and do. As Mary Quant would say, “Fashion is not frivolous. It is a part of being alive today.”Mary is the woman we have on today’s stamp (she invented the miniskirt and hot pants).

Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

17

What will I do today?

What will I learn doing this? To go one step further. This week’s exercise might seem easy, but it is not. To make it nice, there are many things you will need to take into consideration.

18

# Lad y Ga g aHead T o T o e

Today, you will choose the person that will wear your outfit. Will it be you? A famous or imaginary person? Who will your “model” be? Find a head to toe picture of him (or her) to print out (and cut), in order to get him (or her) ready for the big fashion photoshoot / parade we will have tomorrow.

Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

#RealFantasies

What will I do today? Today, you will make a photoshoot. Find the right playlist to get you in the right mood, the mood you want to create. Then, prepare the “setting”. What do you want in your pictures? Will you go outside or remain in your house? What about the lighting? The objects around?

What will I learn doing this? To leave room for the unexpected. When doing a photoshoot, you never know what can happen... There is always a surprise you need to anticipate. There is movement. There are exchanges, conversations and emotions between the photographer and its model. The two of them communicate. It is all about action and things. And capturing that very special moment. Don’t be scared of the rough, wrinkled and irregular.Be prepared...

Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

19

What will I learn doing this? To find something that gets you going. Ideally, many things should have the power to get you going (because when this happens, you can go very far).

What will I do today? This week is called “My Shelf”. What does it mean? It means that you will transform yourself into a curator and build your very own exhibition we want you to think to the simplest possible way to tell us what your exhibition will be about. If we were to make the exercise ourselves, we would choose as a subject “the flower” and would represent it with

20

Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

#ChoosingAndArranging

What will I do today? Yesterday you represented what your very own exhibition was about using some kind of “point” or “icon” in space. Easy and simple. Today, you will take the whole exercise a little further. Your task is to draw a line and place an object on it. Your line should be a line. Nothing more, nothing less. The object should be something related to what you want to exhibit

What will I learn doing this? To think about the whole exhibition, but always doing so one step at a time. Not easy. But not impossible. It takes time. Experiments. Try and try some more!

Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

21

What will I do today? you need to choose some kind of 2d background (front view) of a shelf (or shelving system) on which to place some things. Then you need to collect a series of things to exhibit on your 2d shelving background. Find some kind of shelving system as background image and place your things on / in it. Find 3 different ways / configurations for placing your things.

ElasticMind

What will I learn doing this? To make you think in series, let’s take Alan Fletcher’s example of play with the colour blue:...jAzz bLuES, bLuEbLOOD, ONCEINA bLuEMOON, bLuESTOCkING, bLuEFIT, FEEL bLuE, bLuEMuRDER, bLuEPENCIL, bLuEFILM, bLuEbEARD, bLuEMOOD, bLuEFuNk, CORDON bLEu, TRuE bLuE, MOODINDIGO

What will I do today? Today, we add an overall context to the whole.Make sure you think about the “lighting”. But then, remember to make things simple and easy. Please don’t take unnecessary risks if you are not an electrician...

What will I learn doing this? To reflect on the various technicalities related to exhibition design. But then, to also reflect on their meaning.

Chater Dora - Design1o1Redux

#CurrentValues

What will I do today? Today, we do the same thing, but with a series of shelving units / systems (with things on / in them).
