Car Seat Swap Service We hope you’ll never have an accident, but if you do, we’re here to help. After an accident you can’t be sure your child’s car seat is still safe. Our team can take a look at the car seat that was in the accident and see whether it needs to be replaced. If it does, we can swap it for a brand new one. Just contact our consumer care team.

i-Size: the highest safety standard All baby and child car seats must meet the R44/04 standard. In addition to this, i-Size (ECE R129), which was introduced in 2013, takes child carseat safety to a new and higher level.
Car Seat Safety As a parent, you’ll want to make sure your child is as safe as possible when you travel. It’s compulsory to use a child car seat in the UK until the child is 135cm/4ft 5in tall or aged 12, whichever comes first. In other EU countries, the height limit is either 135cm or 150cm. But how do you pick the safest car seat? Look for a seat that’s i-Size compliant so installed using ISOFIX.
ISOFIX connection point
i-Size provides extra protection in several ways. In particular, it protects babies by stating that they must travel rearward-facing for at least the first 15 months. Research shows that this position is safer, because in an accident a rear-facing car seat reduces the impact on a baby’s vulnerable head and neck.

ISOFIX installation: Easy, Simple & Safe Installing a child car seat in a car sounds simple, but it’s easy to get it wrong. Research has shown that about 80%(!) of parents make mistakes when they install the seat. Using ISOFIX greatly reduces this risk.

Why i-Size? Advantages of an i-Size car seat are: • Rearward-facing travel up to 15 months - so children are less likely to be put in forward-facing car seats before they’re ready • Improved side protection • Minimal risk of incorrect installation - i-Size seats are installed using the ISOFIX system • Easier and safer to use, as i-Size car seats are classified by height
ISOFIX is an internationally standardized system that’s integrated into the car, making it easier to install child car seats without using car seatbelts. ISOFIX connection points are permanently connected to the body of the car and your ISOFIX car seat or base attaches securely to these connection points. All new cars even come fitted with a third fixing point for a top tether strap. Maxi-Cosi offers several bases on which you can safely install your car seat with ISOFIX. 7

Wow! I am still so excited... Having a baby is an incredible experience. And no... I don’t mean giving birth, although it certainly wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Thanks to my yoga teacher I managed to puff and pant my way through it. And luckily they were very, very sweet to me in the hospital.

What I’m excited about is Tom, my own sweet, cute, adorable ...fill in the blanks yourself... beautiful son, weighing in at a gorgeous 8 pounds. I feel like I am completely drunk. Has he really been in my tummy for 9 months? Incredible! Taking him home with me was a very special experience. Fortunately, my husband Patrick had got everything ready - he even washed the car. He almost never does that. He also practiced with the car seat, which was actually a pretty useful thing to do. We seemed very experienced when we installed Tom on the back seat. It was very tempting to sit next to him, but I decided to resist and sit in the front next to Patrick, talking about Tom and reliving the birth. Fortunately I didn’t have to drive myself, and Patrick put Tom’s car seat in so I could see him when I looked behind me. I am so in love with my son! Now he’s lying in his little cot for the first time. What an experience! I’m a mum!

Travel safety tips Our car seats are among the safest you can buy, but they need to be fitted and used correctly. Here are our tips for travelling safely with your little one.
1. Practice installing the car seat before

your baby is born That way you’ll be confident you can fit the seat quickly and correctly for your special passenger when the day finally arrives.
2. Avoid buying second-hand seats You can never be sure a second-hand car seat is safe if you don't know the exact history. It may have been damaged in an accident, or have pieces missing.
3. Always use a car seat, even on short trips It’s obvious and it’s the law, but we still sometimes see children younger than 12 travelling without a car seat. Accidents can happen, even on the shortest trips.

4. Pull the safety harness tight The harness is tight enough if you can slip just one finger between it and your child’s chest.
5. Make sure the safety harness is at the right height It should be at shoulder height, not lower or higher. Also make sure there are no twists in the straps.
6. Always put the safety handle in the right position For safety, the handle needs to be in an upright positon when you travel in the car.
7. Don’t use a car seat for longer than 2 hours Children, especially babies, need to move around and change position – just like you need a break when you’re driving.
8. Don’t put loose objects on the car’s rear shelf They will fly through the air if you stop suddenly.
