Pattaya Thailand Travel Guide The town of Pattaya is located just an hour from the Bangkok International Airport and is a popular weekend getaway for residents of the capital city. The lively, fun, and exciting town offers tropical beaches, some family-friendly activities, and value shopping. Dining options are inexpensive, plentiful and feature some of the best Thai fusion food in the country. Hotel prices and packages vary depending on the budget and the exquisite beachfront destination never tires in attractions and sightseeing opportunities. We stumble across a makeshift car park and give the attendant 10 Baht for care of our hire car, from here it's only a short walk to the Mai Sai border crossing. Being from Australia we've never walked into another country and the idea of walking into Burma made the 4 hour drive from Chiang Mai all the more worthwhile. At the boarder we are ushered into a small and unusually hot room where a man dressed in a military uniform sits behind his desk and asks of our intentions for visiting his country. His English is difficult to understand and before we can answer he tells us we are only visiting for the day to shop at the boarder markets. 500Baht is handed over and to our surprise passports are retained and will supposedly be returned when we attempt to return back into the Kingdom of Thailand. The heat already souring its all the more sweaty knowing we are walking into Burma without passports. Another thing you might like to re-think is chocolate. Thailand is, as I said hot and not really designed for chocolate. The type of chocolate that people tend to bring with them from America, UK and Europe tends to melt very easily. Unless you eat it very quickly or are able to store it in a fridge you will end up with a hell of a mess. Chocolate is available here by the bucket load in supermarkets and mini markets, but tends to be imported from Australia which has a higher melt temperature and isn't so nice. Sorry Australia. Amongst all its differences, the pleasures are true and fascinating. There's no doubt Thailand is a crazy world. But strangely enough, it seems to hang together well. And the proof is in the pudding... Having thrown myself into this lifestyle, I now feel somewhat 'apprehensive' about having to travel to a Western country and meet Western people. Why would I feel that way? Thailand has over 100 national parks including 20 marine parks. There are many forest parks if one wishes to see exotic animals in Thailand. For scuba diving, snorkeling, kayaking there are many marine parks in South and East of Thailand. There are a lot of activities at the national park like trekking, camping, spotting exotic birds nature photography. The most popular of the parks are Kaho Yai National Park with diverse wildlife like tigers, exotic birds, bears and elephants. It gives pleasure to Travelling In Thainland It's no surprise that this area has over a million tourists that visit each and every year. There is so much culture, religion, and history to soak in you may need to visit more than once or plan an extended stay. Definitely visit for beautiful landscapes and a one of a kind location.
