LA VALLÉE DE LA CHIMIE
The context of this project aims to bring into question broad issues concerning the Chemical Valley in its complex and altogether changing characteristics. We have aimed to adopt a stance on its vast problematics and even though we are aware that this stance may be still fragile, we believe it brings certain depth to the picture. Architecture tends to be rare or even absent in territories such as the Chemical Valley. Therefore, we must explore the ways our discipline can be useful to the valley. This territory placed on the edge of the Metropolis of Lyon announces its transformation. This dynamics is implicitely considered virtuous. We can thus ask ourselves: What will be the position of architecture? And what is more: How are we going to improve the way of living a priori hostile while given the promise of metropolis? To which extent a regard should be shown to already present ways of living and to maybe misused resources featured in the valley? By the work itself we start to create our architectural coherence, our position. After iterative work, the presented project brings into question elements such as a “tower“ or a „tile“ which are largely devalued in common notion. Therefore, I would like to present experience acquired in this project not as aiming for an absolute output but rather as aiming at questions exceeding strict architectural schemes by its outline, representation, and composition while embracing current environmental and social issues.

FEYZIN DANS LA VALLÉE DU RHÔNE Those maps allow us to have an overview of the Rhone valley and human settlement in the XVIII and XIX century through fine and precise graphics. Today transport infrastructures connect, travers the towns of the valley but do not stop there. The destination is Lyon Metropole which causes the orientation of the territory to be “North to the South”. Therefore; the perception of the Chemical Valley is not same anymore. As shown in an attached map, we were used to read a vis-à-vis logic from one bank to another, unrolling settlement systems from the tops of the hills to the river. Infrastructure has shattered the landscape and the transversalities from East to West.

The corkscrews “Bilame” are ideal to open the old bottles without damaging the cork. More the wine is old more the cork is fragile. Here the cork is not drilled as usual but the metal blades spin around the cork. This corkscrew finds perfectly its place during event as Christmas which is often the opportunity to open old bottles.

Any breakages or cracks in the ceramic surface of the appliance are defects and must be treated as such. From the first sketch to the «cooking», this project of design product was an opportunity to experiment how the material properties influence the final result.

ARCHISOUND PRESIDENCY
01
Archisound Festival was born in 2008 from the desire of students in the National School of Architecture of Lyon to open their school to the student community in Lyon. First a music event, the festival is becoming step by step a more global artistic event inviting a number of artists such as photographers, graffiti artists, architects, artists, designers. In 2013 I took the opportunity to lead the organizing team. It was for me a singular experience, challenging in terms of responsibility and rich in emotions.
