welcome message from the mayor

Welcome to Sicamous from Mayor Colleen Anderson

Whether you’re looking at purchasing a home here, starting a business, or looking at a great place to start to plan your retirement. Sicamous is a great choice.

The vision of Sicamous is built on our strategic priorities. A vibrant healthy community that embraces strong social, economic, and environmental values. We established our strategic priorities with a focus on municipal assets and continue to work on our infrastructure and our asset management plan.

Our priorities also include health and wellness, we are a municipality owned healthcare facility, the District of Sicamous employs our doctors and administration. When we were in jeopardy of losing our healthcare facility to a retiring Doctor who owned the private clinic, we boldly went where few municipalities go, and purchased the clinic.

Housing, community safety, recreation, tourism, and economic growth are our goals moving forward.

The work of our Economic Development Corporation and Explore Sicamous Tourism have added value in how we market our community. Our municipality also offers incentives such as tax revitalization exemptions, and fair DCC’s.

Our population is growing with young families as well as active retirees. Our list of Sicamous offerings combined with the growing tourism market creates great opportunity for hoteliers, bike stores, coffee shops, winter appeal, condo development, anything that complements our tourism-based community.

Our lakes, mountains and landscape make Sicamous houseboat capital of Canada. Houseboating brings thousands of visitors to Sicamous each year. We welcome recreational boaters, fishing enthusiasts, and bird watchers to the endless beauty in the Shuswap.

Our Sicamous snowmobile community is over 23,000 annual sledding enthusiasts, arriving here to 4 of the best-groomed mountains in Western Canada. The tourism pendulum is now swinging back, to fewer jet setting weekends and more weekends recreating, proving people want what rejuvenates the soul. Sicamous offers many opportunities to anyone interested in growing their business in our vibrant community, including a great lifestyle.
