Christoph Prégardien is among the world’s foremost lyric tenors. Particularly revered as a lieder singer, he can regularly be heard in concerts all over the world, most recently at London’s Wigmore Hall, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and in New York, Washington, Chicago and Cleveland. The 2019/20 season includes appearances in the US and in Hong Kong as well as recitals in London, Madrid, Zurich and Stockholm, among others. Prégardien appears regularly with renowned orchestras the world over. He has worked with the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonics, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, as well as the Boston and San Francisco Symphonies; and with such conductors as Barenboim, Chailly, Gardiner, Harnoncourt, Herreweghe, Luisi, Metzmacher, Nagano and Thielemann. In opera, his roles have included Tamino, Almaviva, Fenton (Falstaff), Don Ottavio, Titus, Ulysses and Idomeneo. He also regularly appears as a conductor, following the success of his conducting debut in 2012 leading the ensemble Le Concert Lorrain and the Netherlands Chamber Choir. He leads the Collegium Vocale Gent conducting Bach’s Christmas Oratorio on a major European tour in December 2019. The singer’s discography includes over 150 recordings. His awards include the Orphée d’Or of the Académie du Disque Lyrique, the Edison Award, the Cannes Classical Award and the Diapason d’Or. His Schubert CD Poetisches Tagebuch (with Julius Drake) was awarded the German Critics’ Award in 2016. Teaching remains a very important part of Christoph Prégardien’s musical life. In addition to his concert engagements he is a professor at the Academy of Music in Cologne and gives master classes worldwide.
