Co-artistic director of the "wee dance company" at the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau and the theater's chief choreographer since 2011, Dan Pelleg's career began in Tel Aviv with the Batsheva Ensemble, performing repertoire amongst others by Ohad Naharin, Anjelin Preljocaj, Inbal Pinto and Jiři Kilian, after which he moved to Berlin to dance with Ahn Eun-Me, Tomi Paasonen, Sommer Ulrickson, Christoph Winkler, De La Guarda and others. In 1999 he co-founded in Berlin, together with Sommer Ulrickson and Marko E. Weigert, the wee dance company, which has since 2011 operated as part of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau, having performed in 13 countries worldwide, being described by the press as "one of the most substantial, most versatile, internationally most active Berliner ensembles in contemporary dance" with its "discrete and independent aesthetics", "elegant, meticulous and richly inventive", and having created by 2018 a total of 16 full length dance productions and multiple short pieces. Independently of his work with the wee dance company, Dan has choreographed dance pieces for the "Jüdische Kulturwoche in Stuttgart", for the Ballet Vorpommern and together with Marko E. Weigert for the Görlitzer Ballet. In 2008 he was invited to choreograph for "The Abduction from the Seraglio" at the Kiel Opera House and has since choreographed with Marko E. Weigert for multiple opera and musical productions at the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater ("Carmen", "Orfeo ed Euridice", "La Traviata", "Fiddler on the Roof", "The Birdcage" and "The Producers", to name but a few).
