Dana Lyn Artist Bio Brooklyn-based violinist, pianist and composer Dana Lyn is a musician of diverse accomplishment. She has worked with songwriter-playwright Stew; actor-directors Ethan Hawke and Vincent D'Onofrio; performance artist Taylor Mac; avant cellist Hank Roberts; contemporary artists D'Angelo and the Vanguard, the Walkmen and the Elysian Fields. She also leads her own projects, which include the sextet Mother Octopus and a string trio with violinist Charlie Burnham and cellist Marika Hughes. As a composer, she has received commissions from Brooklyn Rider, the Apple Hill String Quartet, the National Arts Council of Ireland, A Far Cry, line upon line, and Palaver Strings; she has written music for documentaries, audio stories and for dance. Also visually inclined, Lyn has made stop-motion animations for Taylor Mac, her duo with guitarist Kyle Sanna, Slim Bone Head Volt (her spoken-word and music collaboration with D'Onofrio), children's artist Elena Moon Park, and clarinetist Ben Goldberg. Dana is a wellversed fiddle player in the Irish tradition. L yn was an artist-in-residence at the Baryshnikov Arts Center in 2017 and an awardee of the 2018 American Composers Forum Create Commission; most recently, she was a recipient of a 2020 NYFA Women's Fund Award for Media, Music and Theater and a Sundance Composer Lab Fellow in 2021. www.danalynmusic.com
