Biography: Music Director of the CCM Philharmonia Orchestra, Mark Gibson enjoys a career that spans three continents, guest conducting and teaching from Munich to Manila. Director of Orchestral Studies at the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), University of Cincinnati, Prior to his arrival in Cincinnati, he served as principal conductor of the Alabama Symphony and music director of the New York City Opera National Company and Opera de Mahon (Menorca). Mo. Gibson has also served as artistic director of the Opera Theatre and Music Festival of Lucca in Italy. He is presently co-artistic director of CCM’s renowned Summer Opera Bootcamp. Mo. Gibson credits include the Minnesota Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Omaha Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, New York City Opera, Dallas Opera, Opera Pacific, New Orleans Opera, Cleveland Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Spoleto U.S.A. His international credits include the Seoul Metropolitan Opera, China National Opera House, Beijing, many orchestras throughout China, the Opera de Valencia, Opera de Málaga, and the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Barcelona. Notable performances include opera galas at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Beijing and the American premiere of the complete, five-act Paris Opera version (1867) of Verdi’s Don Carlos. His highly-anticipated book, “The Beat Stops Here,” was published in 2017 by Oxford University Press.
