Doug Grant The place to have a special formal photograph taken in Brockville during the 1860s, was the studio of Alexander C. McIntyre at the corner of King St. & Victoria Ave. These two pictures were taken about the same period. That is McIntyre’s new “Roman Temple” backdrop showing in the rear of any number of photographs taken in Brockville like these.

Perhaps more interesting is this group of youngsters who attended Victoria Common School on Wall St. They all dressed up for this group shot and walked down to McIntyre’s studio. In the centre is Mr. William Bigg, the principal. He shows up in each picture here. My guess is that at least two of these young women are teachers.
