CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

SOPHIE APPLETON-WYETH Started 2018 Teacher of Learning Skills

I was lucky enough to also be included in the Global Teacher Exchange Programme…the experience was tremendously worthwhile, deepening my knowledge of global SEND and forging connections with other Learning Skills/Support professionals.

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

As a qualified specialist teacher, assessor, and holder of APC, I continually engage in SEND training each year. This can be through SASC accredited courses, JCQ Access Arrangements update sessions, INSETs arranged by the Downe House Learning Skills Department, free web-based courses, and department feedback sessions with colleagues. The world of neurodiversity is everchanging, and it is incumbent on specialist teachers and assessors to keep their professional development, training, and knowledge up to date. Downe House has allowed me to do this extremely well and I was lucky enough to also be included in the Global Teacher Exchange Programme. I was paired with a Swedish school and the experience was tremendously worthwhile, deepening my knowledge of global SEND and forging connections with other Learning Skills/ Support professionals.
