Downhome Pet Dating Profiles
Pets of the Month
Show Some Love
For a bit of Valentine's Day fun, we asked our Facebook friends to write "dating profiles" for their pets. Here are some of our favourites.
Darkmoon
If you love early mornings, I’m your guy! I love to talk and cuddles are the best. That’s my brother, Tiger, behind me. He’s the strong, silent type. We both love hunting and can bring home lots of presents. If you and a friend are interested in a double date, let us know! (owns Bev Nowotczynski)
Blossom
Blossom is a shy beauty! A fourmonth-old, 41-lb Wolfadoodle, she’s all legs with an athletic build. When Blossom warms up to you, she’s a lot of fun! She loves walks, playing in the snow, cuddles and trying different kinds of food. You’ll never forget meeting this young lady! (owns Natosha Frampton)
Abby
I am a senior Labrador retriever who still lives an active lifestyle. My favourite things to do are going for quad and boat rides, watching sunsets, and walks on my own beach while retrieving the odd stick. If you enjoy the outdoors and the simple things in life, look me up. (owns Tony Miller)
Maggie
I’m known to knock everything – including full glasses of beverages – off tables just to get attention. I love kisses and snuggles, but I mostly love my gut. (owns Jenn Snelgrove)
Leo
I live on the Great Northern Peninsula and my favourite activities are long walks on the beach and a good game of catch. In the summer I love to lie by the campfire, and maybe even get a s’more or two. Good food is my thing! In the evenings I like to settle down to a good movie under a cozy blanket. Mom says I’m not that great at listening yet, but I’m working on it, ladies. (owns Tamara Ryland)
Amari
I’m a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, affectionately known as “Snow Globe” because I shed enormously. I love camping, beachcombing and riding in the Jeep. I’m pretty laid back, always looking to have my ears scratched or belly rubbed. Presently I hold two prestigious jobs working as a home security system (don’t let my size or bark fool you) and floor cleaner – no vacuum cleans up food particles as swiftly as me! I break up my time between St. John’s and the Burin Peninsula. I’m a lovable, goofy, shedding kinda gal! (owns Kim Bonnell)
Sadie
I’m almost six and still single because I haven’t found anyone that can keep up with me. You know what they say about German Shepherds – work hard, play hard – well, that’s me. Training is always fun. I’m super intelligent and I have wonderful manners. I like anything outdoors, so an ideal date would have to take place outside, where we can run with the wind in our ears! I am loyal and trustworthy. You can always count on me. (owns Holly Coady Walsh)
Ellie
I was born and raised in AB, but have returned to NL to live out my golden years. I’m a senior girl (a lady never reveals her age), but still up for adventures – nothing too late though; I love going to bed and sleeping all night. I love trying new food, massages, playing fetch, walks in the woods and swimming. I’m a great listener and very loyal. I’m definitely all that and a bag of chips. (owns Belinda Downey-Parsons)
Mojo
This 12-year-old Chihuahua in Slave Lake, Alberta, enjoys long walks – but only in the warm weather due to his Mexican background. Wintertime he can be found lying in his big comfy bed in front of the fire. A bed big enough for two! Mojo loves going for drives in his dad’s Jeep and is often told he’s the best copilot. He loves a laugh and just a look in his direction garnishes violent tail wags and endless kisses. In fact, he’s so full of love that he’s on medication for an enlarged heart. His heart is literally too big for him. He’s a great listener and always offers a well-timed lick. Say hi, you won’t regret it! (owns Vince R Hancock)
Max
Max is 8 years old and loves to go walking. He loves it at the cabin, where he is always the first one in the boat. He also loves to steal the junks of wood from the wood box and run off with them, throwing them up into the air and chewing on them. (owns Melanie Duder Mackenzie)
Bailey
I’m an Australian Shepherd living with my family in St. Anthony, NL. I really just like to do whatever my little human Reid is doing! He’s my best bud. We enjoy walks, throwing frisbee and shovelling snow, and we’re always up for a game of chase. I guess what I’m getting at is that we are a package deal! Mom tells me I’m the best girl, even though I am a little high maintenance and a big sook – so you’ve been warned. But hey, I love my family and I might just love you, too. And that about sums it up. Wait – did someone say frisbee??? (owns Carla Coates)
Cinnamon
I love walks in the park and long drives. I’m a great companion and enjoy a good feed of Timbits with a cup of tea. I love to travel and have journeyed across the country twice. Plus, I’ve lived in three different provinces! I currently live in Nova Scotia but I’m still a Newfie dog at heart. I’d love a date that gets me out of the house and away from my kitty, Champneys Rose; she’s not cuddly and that’s not my type. She also scratches my nose... note to date: please don’t do that. (owns Charlene Hatcher with her cat sister Champneys Rose: next photo)
Champneys Rose
I’m named after my parents’ hometowns: Rose Blanche and Champneys East. I’m not cuddly and I don’t really like people. I also attack my dog when she’s sleeping. I’d like a date that could convince me to be kinder. You can join me in jumping from the table onto the counter to knock over dishes. We can have a competition to see who can destroy mom’s chair better. My soft spot is music; I enjoy listening to my owner play the piano. Let me know if you’d like to meet up, from a distance of course. It’s not because of COVID – I just don’t like being close. I’m a skilled social distancer and have been way before it was cool. Anyways, call me... or don’t. I’m not really in the mood to find a friend and I don’t know why I’m even bothering to write this. Yeah, bye. (owns Charlene Hatcher with her dog sister Cinnamon: previous photo)
