The second £1 Star of Elizabeth II, and the last £1 Star of the predecimal era, the 1961 £1 Coombs/Wilson Star Note is extremely rare – especially in top grade! Printed in tiny numbers, and creating specifically for circulation, we seldom have the chance to offer the last £1 Star in strictly Uncirculated quality – as here.

With £5 Star Notes only introduced in 1962, this is the ONLY Australian £5 Star Note issue! Utterly unique, this one-of-a-kind issue is also immensely rare – indeed, it is among the rarest issues of the entire Star Note Series! The extreme rarity of this note is exacerbated by the fact that this particular example has mismatched serial numbers –the first such note ever offered by Downies!

Phillips/Randall was the only signature combination during which Australian $20 Star Replacement notes were issued. Unique and highly desirable, only 62,500 examples of this crucial note issued for circulation. Thus, it stands to reason that it would be rare in any grade. In about Uncirculated, as here, it is a rarity of world standing.
