The Okanagan Valley has grown so quickly in popularity. Obviously there has been a surge in popularity for wine, but distilleries and craft breweries are also leaving their mark!

With all the praise and all the awards in the past few years, the Okanagan now has its name on wine maps of the world! It is a fact that there are many medals and accolades hanging on bottles from the North Okanagan all the way down to Osoyoos and all points in between! And it’s not just wine, Spirits and beer have become equally as popular and discovered by uppity connoisseurs around the world.
It is the soil that makes this valley such an epic place to grow grapes.
The difference between high daytime and low night time temperatures provides the much-needed acidity for production of high quality wine making grapes. This valley is a rare tract of land that transforms from semi-arid in the north to fully arid, desert in the south.
Winemaking in the Okanagan Valley first gained popularity with white wines like Pinto Gris, Chardonnay, Gerwurztraminer and Viognier. However in recent years there has been a massive surge in red vinifera vines. The climate and soil are perfect for growing Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes. Recognize that the slopes and benches are teeming with vines and grapes, row after row with unparalleled scenery as the backdrop.
Be sure you take some time to appreciate all the wonderful things these vineyards have to offer. Even after visiting one or two wineries you will get a better understanding of the magnitude and positive affect the wine industry has on the entire Okanagan Valley.
Also keep in mind that there are other libations to be enjoyed. Distilleries and craft beer have also had a big influence in the local market.
Each and every row has an exquisite story to tell. Luckily we speak fluent vine.
